Sorry that part about Blessing update was outdated, I corrected it.

From what I understand is that Last Rites doesn’t give an extra hit, it makes all your hits Holy element, so they all benefit from the Holy damage boost that Sacrament gives. With the extra bonus on low health, the boost per hit is larger than the one from Blessing (before update).

Aspersion/Aspergillum is just a fixed +21~42 damage (0%-100% damage attribute) per skill level. It also only affects self instead of party.

Blessing is worst for Chaplain right now, but after update it will be better.

If you don’t take Chaplain, then you might as well keep Aspersion at 1/15 and Sacrament at 1/10 and max Blessing, Revive, Stone Skin and Mass Heal instead.

with sacrament, all your hits are already holy.

Aspersion: base 77, +21 x level, +Spr (+Matk, etc); x 100% to 200% (attribute) (+bless, etc)

saying “fixed 21-42 dmg/ level” really seems to undersell it to me. it adds something like 1k/hit or more, to my attacks, at lv 130.
i’d like to be more specific, but i really haven’t sat down to just watch the numbers
…

i’d definitely agree; if you -don’t- take chaplain, it’s certainly not worth investing nearly as heavily into the buffs. there are absolutely more useful things you can spend your points on -if- you aren’t aiming to be a front-liner.

Even if you want to fight on the front lines you can just get Pardoner buffs for Aspersion and Sacrament. The only reason actually learn them are the Chaplain skills. I guess that’s the reason they added Chaplain in the first place.

Aspersion/Aspergillum gives a fixed +21 damage indepedent of number of hits. Sacrament/Last Rites/Blessing gives damage increase per hit.
So which is better basically depends on how many hits you are doing.

yea, this is pretty much what i’ve been saying.
chaplains and pardoners need them… other types of priests will find a much lower level of the buffs to be almost as effective, currently.

remember;
Aspersion has base dmg of +77 for first level, as well as scaling with matk and spr. Aspergillum basically clips it onto every swing, effectively making it another “hit” with each swing.
Sacrament (and i think Last Rites, but am less sure) also adds a hit to each swing.

Thanks everyone, I just became rank 6. I was just lvl 30 (rank 2) when I posted this thread. I went for Cleric 1 > Priest 3 > Chaplain > Cleric 2, then PD in the future.
