Post Patch Builds

Thought this might be a fun thread to share builds for the up coming patch!

Builds I’m considering so far:

CLERIC

Cleric 2>Bokor 3>Druid 3
With SPR being the main driving factor behind summon damage, that paired with the Werewolf form from Druid might be very useful, as you could use Lycanthropy for its full duration, as SP drain is not based upon percentage of Max SP.

Cleric 2>Priest 1>Dievdirby 1>Monk 3>Inquisitor 1
High Dex Monk with double punch… I must at least try that least once.

Cleric 3>Sadhu 3>Miko>Inquisitor
Because Sadhu doesn’t look so sad anymore. :smile:

WIZARD

Wizard 1>Cryomancer 1>Linker 2>Sorcerer 3>Sage
Another SPR build. The main damage coming from Bats and being able to duplicate them, potentially creating 30 bats. Linking and Evocation could prove useful for dealing big damage to many mobs. Also Cryo because of the MDef shield passive attribute.

SWORDSMAN

Swordsman 2>Barbarian 3>Doppel 3
Looks like one of the best damage dealing Swordsman builds on KTest.

Swordsman 2>Hopelite 2>Squire 3>Lancer
Because I always wanted a Squire… Hopefully one that would also be useful in combat either as support by using Arrest to stop mobs/bosses, or take advantage of the Synergy between Hopelites’ Spear Lunge and Lancers’ high damaging skills.

Anyone else looking forwards to trying out a certain build? :smile_cat:

I have the last build, squire 3 lancer, before the patch. Pretty weak imo.

Have a (really) hard time doing rank 8 quests solo. Maybe patch will make it stronger and easier to do quests with, but I’m opting out of this build myself.

Btw can’t use Arrest while mounted.

The two 2x overheat skills do 1424% and 1284% in the patch coming on Lancer.

And yeah, dismounting is fine, it’s just a nice support feature to have. :smile_cat:

I know, but you really lack on other filler skills. DPS is still low if you need to wait on these skills cooldowns.

Squire C3 makes you lose out too much during battle, Arrest and Deadly Combo are quite bad skills too. Doesn’t make up for the loss of 3 class circles.

You can have one as a secondary character for food table / buffs, etc, but I wouldn’t put too much faith on reaching comparable DPS to other rank 8 classes just because you’re a Lancer.

That’s perfectly fine. Squire 3 is the aim.

Another version of it was:

Swordsman 1>Highlander 3>Squire 3>Lancer

That way there are more skills to choose from to fill those gaps. :smiley:

With the free character slot they are going to give us, I plan to make one char for each class tree + leaf penguin.

  • Swordsman C3 > Barbarian C1 > Corsair C1 > Fencer C2 > Shinobi C1
    This is the one that I’m most interested for now. Barbarian is there just for the cleave buff, Corsair for some fun in PvP and also one more slash skill. Fencer for the buff on pierce damage from Shinobi/Swordsman and is also a good class on its on. Shinobi for burst, probably going to take before Fencer C2. Also, I fell like this build will be safe for rank 9 update since at least one of the new class should have no weapon requirement considering that almost every class from rank 6 to 8 already have one. And if that’s not the case, Fencer C3 wouldn’t be a bad choice.

  • Archer C1 > Ranger C3 > Appraiser C1 > Schwarzer Reiter C3
    Not 100% sure about this one, I’ll definitely test some Rogue builds before going to this, but from all theory crafting that I have been doing I won’t be able to find any other build that fits my style and even if I don’t like it, I can still use it as a silver farmer. Already done with the Appraiser pre-quest, I hope the Shinobi one be just as easy.

  • Wizard C3 > Elementalist C3 > Chronomancer C2
    Wizard tree is trick for me. I really enjoy the later ranks class, but none of the early ones seems attractive for me. I always wanted to make a Necromancer, but with skeletons getting knockdown all the time doesn’t look like a good choice, so I wanted to make a Wizard C1 > Cryo C2 > Elem C3 > Rune Caster C1 > Enchanter C1 to make use of high burst from ice wall + ice blast + rune of ice and also having skills like Hail and Frost Cloud for some damage overtime, but I started to level up a Elementalist with Cryo + Kino and its frustrating been interrupted all the time while casting. About the build I’m going, until rank 6 is just the synergy everyone already knows, and the reason for Chronomancer later for some mobility plus crowd control. At rank 9 I would be okay leaving Chronomancer C2 or going C3, so I think the build will be safe later on.

  • Cleric C2 > Krivis C3 > Miko C1 > Oracle C1 > Taoist C1
    This one is definitely subject to changes. I need to take either Taoist or Inquisitor as rank 8 for costume, and I don’t want it to be based on physical damage so its hard to go for Inquisitor. The nerf to Zaibas seems to be excessive and I don’t like that this is basically the only skill on this build until rank 8, so I’m not sure about what I’ll be doing with this one. On the other hand, I do like the support side of this build with Prophecy, Heal, Counter Spell, Melstis and Dark Sight. I do have a lot of time to think since I don’t even have a Cleric anyway.

Making some comments about your builds, the first one for Cleric was something I was really considering, the only problem was that I don’t like to take class whose themes sounds conflicted with each other and I really need some of the rank 8 costumes to fell satisfied (appearance > damage/utility).

About your Squire, I never played one myself but I believe Arrest can be useful with some party that have skill that require the boss to stay in place, and with low rank skills being more relevant it will probably be a lot better than now to level up (if you don’t already have a high level character).

My build will probably be cleric 2 diev 2 pard 2 pd 2. I intend to use incineration and black steam death full time. :slight_smile:

I have four characters at the moment, one of each base class. Here’s what I plan to do with my builds.

Archer: Archer C2 > Quarrel Shooter C3 > Falconer C3
I’m already playing this build and I honestly plan to stick with it since I’m quite enjoying it so far. I’ll need to adapt to the Dex changes, but from what I’ve heard this got even stronger after the patch.

Cleric: Cleric C2 > Diev C3 > Miko > PD C2
This is the current build and even with the apparent nerf this build received, I’ll likely stick to it. The gameplay is quite fun and my understanding is that all they did was balance the outrageous damages to more acceptable levels. I’ll probably use some resets to check some other classes like Inquisitor and Taoist and scout options for future characters, though.

Wizard: No idea
I honestly don’t know what I’ll do with my wizard yet. My current build is Pyro C1 > Linker C2 > Chrono C3 > Sage and from what I gather the changes to fireball and joint penalty will change gameplay quite a bit. I’ll stick to the current for a few days to get a real grip on the changes and then decide, but I’ve been toying with the idea of may switching to Cryo C3 > Chrono C3 > Sage.

Swordsman: Pelt C1 > Hop C2 > Squire C3 > ???
This is mostly a utility character I’m slowly leveling because I don’t enjoy Swordie gameplay as much as the other three base classes. I see no reason to really change anything here even with the patch.

  • Wizard 3 > Elementalist 3 > Warlock 2. My main is staying the same, Elementalists are more attractive and Warlock got some quality of life changes, hopefully they finally fix Drain and the class will be pretty solid.

  • Wizard 1 > Cryomancer 3 > Elementalist 3 > Rune Caster. My Pyromancer-Linker will change to this, its a lot of fun and still is fairly strong even after the Ice Wall + Ice Blast nerf.

I’d also like to make a Featherfoot sometime now that it actually scales properly, but I’m not entirely sure how to build one yet, so I’ll be testing several builds during the event. If I decide against the Rune Caster build above, I’ll make that character into a Featherfoot

  • Swordsmen 1 > Highlander 3 > Corsair 3 > Shinobi. I only have one swordsmen and I rarely ever play it (Swordsmen isn’t really my style in this game even though I’ve always been a Warrior main in any mmorpg). I always wanted to play a Shinobi but not as a Murmillo, so I’m just going to go Highlander and Corsair for fun.

My Taoist is in a tough spot, they really nerfed Zaibas so incredibly hard on ktos it’s actually depressing considering its a 30s cd. Even with storm calling it hits like a wet noodle, and Taoist skills still cost 1000-1500 silver per cast and don’t back up the cost with power. I really love my Krivis-Taoist but I’m torn between keeping it the same or going something else but not sure what I’ll be making it so I’ll be testing everything again.

I have other characters but the above characters (other than the swordsmen) are what I’ll invest all my time into.

Here are my initial thoughts on my class change, but I have to test my old build before I reset all my characters. :grin:

Wizard:
Wiz1->Cyro3->Psycho->Rune->FeatherFoot2

Swordsman:
SW2->Hop2->Catap3->Lancer

Cleric:
Cleric3->Sadhu2->Monk3

Archer:
A1->QS3->Fletcher3->Mergen
I was thinking maxing bodkin but I have to test it in pvp if my theory is right…

Want to tell you right now, Hoplite 2 then squire is pure suffering. You’ll do no damage. Hoplite shines at rank 3, but not before.

My main Wiz2 Cryo2 Kino3 Runecaster will be:

Wiz Cyro3 Kino3 Runecaster
It’s a huge relief the Concentration attributes will no longer +10s to PP and GP. :grin: Surespell will be missed.

Sword3>barb>cors3>shinobi
archer>QS2>Scout>rogue3>Appraiser

Fuk meta lul.

I’m all about non-meta builds, or builds involving underwhelming classes, or combining classes that are similar thematically but are uncommon to be combined etc… basically just trying to come up with more interesting builds.

Wizards

-Pyro3-Thauma3-Enchanter
will stay the same (used to be Cryo3-Thauma3 before we got the rankreset), although I’m slightly fearing I might not be the only person around with this build for long anymore… I’ll probably not pick the R8-class to see how popular it turns out to be, and then wait for Mimic or something XD…
-||-

-Cryo3-RC-Wiz3-Kino
really enjoy playing it, especially now that I’ve gotten it out of R7-limbo and gained PP. But am seriously considering changing it to Cryo3-Thauma3-RC, because I miss my old special snowflake Thauma…
-Cryo3-Thauma3-RC

-Cryo3-Pyro3-Sage
pretty much my favourite character to play, stays as is.
-||-

-Wiz3-Link2-Necro3
probably the most “common” build I have… which is why I’m changing it into one with bigger focus on Linker. I wish we would get Dirty Wall back and have it work like IceWall when combined with PP. I’d gladly want to add Psychokino into the mix here. And while Dirty Pole does start shooting shards akin to Ice wall with Necro3, it doesn’t do so from PP…
-Wiz2-Linker3-Necro3

-Cryo3-Ele3
really like this combo (idea was to make an elementalist that isn’t the obvious meme build #1), don’t see a reason to change it. Although I’m unsure what to do with it for R8 (Enchanter seems straightforward, but idk…). I could make it worse by turning it into Cryo2-Pyro2-Ele2(3) (simply because of the existence of the severely underwhelming Elementalist atributes that are unlocked by C2 of the R2 classes), but taking Frost pillar away from this one is probably too masochist even for me xDDD
-||- or Cryo2-Pyro2-Ele2

-Pyro3-Chrono3
made this one from being shocked at pretty much never seeing this obvious combo. But considering how many Cryos and Pyros I have (as well as how pyro got so damn popular after Agny…), I want to get rid of Pyro entirely in this build and go for a more unique variation with Psychokino3
-Wiz2-Kino3-Chrono2(3)

Archers

-QS3-Rogue3-Hakka
no brighter future really in sight for rogue…but sticking to it. Hakka really made it way more exciting than I expected any choice I’d make for R8 to turn out to be.
-||-

-Archer3-Sapper3-Cannoneer2
swapping out the obvious wasted rank here (Archer C3), for a fancy costume! Still annoyed by the fact that Shootdown doesn’t make flying mobs take damage from Broom trap though…
-Archer2-Sapper3-Apraiser-Cannoneer2

-Ranger-Hunter3-Fletcher2(3)
Ah, a late-Fletcher on a Hunter3 build, my sh1tbuild masterpiece. Going to swap Ranger C1 for Archer2 just because it looks less improvised that way.
-Archer2-Hunter3-Fletcher2

Swordsmen

-HL3-Corsair-Doppel2(3)
Love Highlander3. Since I’ve made a few more swordies, I’ve really grown to like extra Pain Barrier duration… so I’ll swap out that Corsair Rank for Sword2. Wouldn’t if I hadn’t made a separate actual Corsair by now though.
-Sword2-HL3-Doppel2

-Sword3-Pelt1-Squire2(3)
Really no idea what else to do with only R2-4 being free on a Squire3-based build. Don’t wanna go for the default Pelt3, so either I stick to Sword3, or I’ll throw some HL in the mix… actually, I’ve had the issue of not seeing anything fitting for its R8 from the start, so I might go for this:
-Sword2-HL3-Squire1(3)

-Sword3-Rodelero3-Shinobi
fun character, gonna follow-up with Murmillo as planned
-||-

-Sword2-Barb2(3)-Corsair2(3)
also been fun so far (R6), don’t see any reason to change it.
-||-

Clerics

This is where I’m shifting entire classes around…

-Cleric3-Sadhu2-Druid3
Had a blast with this char (quite recent character). But I’m not happy with Sadhu being only C2, so I’m replacing it with Bokor and shifting Sadhu into another Cleric instead, where it can go C3. Plants and zombies sounds hilarious.
-Cleric2-Bokor3-Druid3

-Krivis3-Pardoner3-(Tao)
Yes you read that right. I played this ultimate sh1tbuild all the way up to 250 something (solo most of it as well…). It was hell xD But I really wanted to make a Cleric that includes Pardoner3 but isn’t a SpellShop/ScrollMaker. Putting it inbetween Krivis and Tao seemed like the only original way. However, I’ve decided to shift Pardoner3 to my Chaplain and add Sadhu3 in here. Probably still gonna be really damn awful not having Cleric2 though.
-Krivis3-Sadhu3-(Tao)

-Priest3-Chaplain-Cleric2-Kabba(2)
Getting rid of Kabba (I’ll make a new Cleric with Kabba as the goal I promise D;) to accomodate my non-afkshop Pardoner3 dreams. Having Chaplain rather than having merely the usual Priest3 on this should keep it unqiue.
-Priest3-Chaplain-Pardoner3

-Cleric2-Diev3-Oracle1(3)
Fine as is (except for the intentionally underwhelming planned choices for R7+ of course)
-||-

-Cleric2-Priest(2)-Paladin(3-Inq)
still quite fresh guy, doubt I’ll wish I’d have went with something else with Paladin3 as the core idea.
-||-

Yeah I know, it’s a wonder I haven’t planned a “battle Alchemist3” yet, right? :'D
