Possibly returning, previously had a Paladin and a Sadhu

So, it looks like a lot of things have changed, and I’m not really sure where to start?

I was working on two different clerics: an int Sadhu and a spr Paladin (this was before the nerfs to Zalciai, so it wasn’t as stupid as it maybe sounds (although it was still kinda stupid)).

I guess I’m mostly curious about how well Paladin and Sadhu are doing in general, if there have been any major changes to those classes (or mechanics that affect those classes. Is arde still ridiculously OP?), and what some viable builds look like now.

Lately, people do Paladin3 > PD1 > Inquisitor1. PD can spread Conviction and Inquistor can spread the wheel.

Sadhu still have to be Sadhu2 > Druid but they nerfed Sadhu a lot, so not much people play the class now. Pick Diev > Druid are a better option now.

Sadhu was bad last time I played anyways, so I’m not super concerned about that. I’m actually more interested in the paladin right now.

I went c2 > k1 > pal1 so far, with 3:1 SPR:CON. Is this build still semi-viable, or am I going to be completely useless? I was planning on being mostly a tanky support that increases my party members physical damage (deprotected zone, Zalciai) while healing and hitting smite on cd. I haven’t been having any trouble killing things out in the world, but I’m concerned about whether I’ll be useful/wanted in group content and whether I’ll run into DPS issues questing at higher levels (I’m 115 right now).

I would said it is semi-viable.

First, Deprotected Zone and Zalciai are not good buffs. They only did its jobs with Physical damage and they are weak. Deprotected Zone increases almost float number of damages and need target to stay in the small area. Zalciai now cannot drop critical resistant lower than 0, so only your allies with high critical change Physical DPS with get some benefit from it. I know they have some attributes but those are not good too.

Then, Paladin1 is not good. You need to be Paladin3. But you don’t get any Physical damage buff from these ranks.
After that, you can be Miko, PD, Oracle or Pardoner > Inquisitor.

Finally, there is no issue until the rank 8 contents where you need to grind for the good gears and find a good party. You should find a guild too.

I don’t see much point in SPR pally anymore, not after the Zalciai changes… you don’t have anything to gain from very high SPR except for cc resist, which is pretty subpar in Cleric PvM. (iirc you weren’t interested in PvP)

Either way, the char won’t be completely useless - at lv115 you’ll only have so much SPR, meaning there’s time to switch around, and you can use the SPR points as max SP.

Pally1 won’t hurt you too much either, it’s a subpar pick unless you go Pally3 (who shouldn’t go SPR), but it’s not that bad: Resist Elements is there, Turn Undead is there, and Restoration’s good for buffing your heal tiles with some INT. Doesn’t have to be too much INT either, ~80ish would be enough.

If you want to keep going with the pally3 idea, Piyachai's PD suggestion is good. In that case I would switch to INT:CON, CON just however much you need and most points into INT. I guess you can also max Smite for Smite+Conviction combo for occasional burst, but if so I'd also go Inquisitor for God Smash.

imho though, I’d advise you to just drop the pally line - one circle is still fine, but leave it at that - and do something else. In this case, TU will be better for you than Smite, as TU is still decent endgame wherever it works, while Smite falls off pretty hard.

For example, you could use that k1 dip and go INT k3 > dunno > taoist. An INT build + Restoration makes you healbomb pretty hard, so you will have pretty decent support together with solid damage. To consolidate the support role, you can use that “dunno” rank to dip into Oracle, making the party very hard to kill while giving you more SP through Arcane Energy. Kabbalist has good synergy with healbombing too, or you can dip into a damage rank.

I don’t agree with the idea that try to be the most effective build for him. He just want to get back, so I just give him the basic build which he can understand without min-max the stats. He should be fine with his build up to rank 8 which I guess he won’t get there before he give up again or just take quite some time. At that time, there will be a lot of changes and the reset classes + reset stats might be there for free again. And before that, he should learn more about this game. By doing dungeon running, people will learn more from their parties of what people can do will other classes. I hope he will do some dungeon runs.

INT k3 > taoist is pretty straightforward though… and by then, if they do give more free resets, he can reset his Paladin rank if he wants.

I have to disagree. I don’t think Taoist is straightforward at all. First, he need to be rank 8 to see the Call Storm combo which I don’t think it is easy for him.
