Possible Tanky Squire Build

Trying to see if this is viable, it seems like “tanking” in this game is pressing the block button a lot and going for a decent ammount of con, I wanted to do that while still being able to actually solo a bit.

What I’m looking for is enough durability to tank, and enough damage to dps, kinda like min/maxing a tank.

My question would this work for mass pulls/boss tanking? Do I need to invest in guardian? It seems to have low returns really.

From what I’ve seen in the skill videos for “Arrest”, I’m not impressed. I certainly don’t want to plant myself in one spot to keep another monster in one spot. I would much rather have all members of my party able to do things (and avoid things) in the fight. I also don’t know if once you cast Arrest; can you be hit by other monsters/minions? It just feels as though you can’t provide any sort of DPS into the fight. I just don’t think it’s a necessary skill as it’s described or implemented. I would just put that point into more Base Camp!

Additionally, from my experience in the 1st iCBT and the discussions I read, you should choose Umbo Blow and just max that out. I would focus the points from Rim Blow into Guardian for maximum tankiness. You are already not getting Gung-ho so there’s no build conflict regarding the two.

No comment on the Rodelero skills.

Alright, question then there. Does 23 physical defense really ammount to a lot? Because unless that 23 defense is the difference between me dying on a boss and me surviving, I’d rather do more damage to push the boss faster.

Also, I’m getting arrest for group settings, arrest is a 10 second stun on bosses, I’m sure it’ll be useful someday, but that’s why im only putting 1 point in.

Don’t forget that Peltasta’s Guardian can also enhance it to give Evasion as well. I suggest exchanging Rim Blow to Guardian if you’re planning to tank.

I was trying to find the thread that discusses mdef vs physdef, but I couldn’t easily locate it with a search. (Guess I need to start bookmarking these informative threads…)

Anyway, I was able to find this thread.

Keep in mind, all of this is most definitely speculation and theory. You are more than welcome to test out your own build and I’m not telling you what to do. I’m actually interested in how Arrest will work, functionally and practically.

My build would be swash buckling and lvl 15 umbo blow.

Build would be

Dex - Con - str

Why dex first? Do I need more swash? Most builds seem to say level 5 swash is enough, I’m just trying to get the most out of my SP.

I can see what you mean about guardian I forgot about the evasion. I can sacrifice rim I suppose, it’ll be painful having only two attacks if I’m solo though T-T Thanks for the tips so far guys, any insight is welcome!

Well some use lvl 15 swash I only use lvl 5.

I use lvl 15 umbo blow for leveling dex for crit.

I was thinking going 2con:1str:1dex as I’ll be attempting to tank or at least be reliably tanky. I feel capitalizing on crit and dex may not be the best choice for that, unless I’m super wrong and plate gives enough HP for me not to need that, a lot of people are saying con scales well late though.

Well for me dex will greatly help us with level and with pvp as well because crit will greatly increase your damage than strenght.

Then the 2nd important stat is con my main Idea is I will pump up dex into a point I have a good amount of crit then all con.

Because believe me going full con would be a pain in the butt. Doing 1damage.

If I believe we do have a skill that have a fix damage if 2k not that sure or I read that in other warrior threads haha well if that’s is for squire that will greatly help.

Okay, I can see that. In pvp i’ve seen tanks and they’re playing the role of harassing people and being invincible, which I can deal with. But again I’m not going all con, ill go 2 con 1 dex 1 str. Squire is just support though, no real attacks, I just figured it’d make me money and people would love meh

Well being a tanky squire would greatly help you get into parties etc. And fyi they will surely love you haha.

Though in pvp I can see that they’re ignoring those tankers and leaving them for last.

Unless you have a little bit of dps you can harass and finish those archers and mages que que que GG haha.

Well I do have some cc abilities, and tbh if you’ve got a tank harassing you all match you aren’t gonna be throwing meteors around, tanks don’t deal 0 damage and I’ve seen some single-handedly win matches by being unkillable and just autoing people to death. Also, I can taunt pets.
