[POLL] Would you remake your character...?

If new game content / balance changes made your character fall out of META and lose its usefulness after spending hundreds of hours on it, would you be willing to remake? Knowing that this could happen again?

(Sorry I can’t embed it and I thought I could you have to click on the link.)

EDIT -

Perhaps I meant to use the word “reroll”. It means would you be willing to follow the path of rerolling in the event your characters become less ‘efficient’ as balancing and new content happens.

Rerolling can imply same character or different.

Considering I already remade my main once when the original was 185, nope. Maybe another class? Possibly, but I’m already working on the ones I really like. I mean if I had to redo my Fencer again because of just one circle, too boring and way too much work for my taste. On the plus side, Swordsman can’t get more useless. It’s only up from here guys and gals.

Haha. Don’t tempt IMC :stuck_out_tongue:

If they found a way to actually make it more useless I’d be impressed. I mean don’t get me wrong, I adore the class I play and have a lot of fun doing so, but… Mhm. I do not foresee any scary nerfs.

I wonder how PvP specific Plague Doctors felt though when that nerf happened. :X It was needed, but stuff like that shouldn’t have stayed so unbalanced for so long anyway. I really hope not just for Swordie but everyone IMC is working hard on some mechanics balances. e.e Not gonna derail this thread though. Points others to the 101 imbalance threads.

Although it was sorta my point with the poll. If people who were running well built characters for hundreds of hours suddenly had their characters either ‘nerfed’ or new game content changed the meta and made their character not really viable anymore, would they bother to remake?

It’s something that’s been on my mind for weeks really. This game seems to be balanced like a MOBA. Flavor of the month then nerfed and new flavor of the month lol. Some balanced well, some not so well, some just suck and you can’t know until you try it or hear it from other people. Except MOBAs don’t mean you throw away your time invested if the flavor you were using falls out of META.

Sometimes lackluster, terrible class types just take forever to be rebalanced too.

Current game balance seems unstable and changeable. So all this time farming and building a character now may end up a dud character later, who knows.

You have a point. It’s an extremely scary prospect that if happened a few times (for many, once), well… Dedicated players like myself would be out the door. It’s the ultimate MMO betrayal, as it were.

I’m going to have some faith in IMC that they are not that incompetent. They already seem to have a few nails in the coffin as is. Call me an optimist, because their track record isn’t the best. I just haven’t seen many MMOs screw chars unless they are extremely unbalanced.

Future ranks may determine this better than nerfs. Will they be balanced, or will there be one ultimate meta pick? Looking at you C1 Peltasta.

Depends what prospect I made the character for.

If I were straight dicking around with how the classes work and the synergy dies, I’d probably just focus on one of the mains and keep the char mainly for the class levels.

However if the mains end up getting shafted (Granted I’m talking more about my Clerics, Swordies are already pretty buttcheeks), then I may lose motivation like how my Sadhu just stares off in the window.

We shall see though. I don’t believe the old meta will be destroyed, but it will be shaken up. We’ll see the true flavor of the month people flop over to the next hype thing. Imagine if Shepard comes out OP, SPR Clerics as far as the eye could see.

This is exactly my concern right now with my character that I’m lvling, basically with class selection.

My char is a lvl 36/12 Cryo C1 and I’m close to hit Rank 3, mainly I was going to pick Linker C2 and from there Chronomancer C3.

But my concern is that if I pick Linker C2 and then decide to get Linker C3 at Rank 8 when it comes out, then assuming the max Rank is lvl 10 I won’t be able to max the new classes to C3 meaning I’d lose the ability to get what it’s most likely going to be really nice abilities because of Linker.

In the other hand if I went with the standard build CryoC3-ChronoC3 then I wouldn’t have any problem since I’ll be free to max any new class to C3 with this build path.

That’s what I’m worried about this char, picking Linker would be good for the future with new classes that might come with shareable buffs that are really good and Lifeline later on with all those stats from more lvl cap might become a really nice tool to kill bosses in exchange of not being able to max any new class to C3 because you won’t have room for the Circles with Linker C3, which might be bad depending of how good the new support wizard classes that we get are.

If only I knew how many ranks there were, I wish it was 11 ranks, that way I can max Linker AND the new classes :frowning:

And in case I still follow the Linker Route I’m pretty unsure I’d reroll, basically considering it’s a full support class and I’m lvling alone most of the time…

No, because you don’t need to be meta to be viable(or have fun, for that matter). Especially when you’re playing with friends and not some trashy PUG. A little coordination goes a long way.

Well, i voted, but to me this whole thing seems kind of vague with question and answer since you dont know peoples intentions…

for example, lets say my sadhu was the best character in the cleric tree lol. Then a patch comes and a different class got buffed to become better than my sadhu. would i reroll just because of this even if my character didnt change at all? meta has changed and my character isnt the best. i still wouldnt reroll.

you didnt say it, but it seems like you are assuming the people who wouldnt reroll wont do it because it takes a while.

I dont have a problem with rerolling for reasons, but not just to be in meta.

That’s actually exactly what I’m asking. I didn’t want to write a wall of text because I wanted people who don’t know how to read to actually vote instead of skipping my thread.

This is sorta what I meant but also the implication that, down the road as they continue to add more content / tweak balances, your character would again suffer and face a choice on whether to reroll or not. Until level 600 is out and they are applying their final balance adjustments there isn’t any guarantee that what you’re doing right now is going to be remotely viable much later on.

What you just said about not rerolling just because something is better, though, is a pretty good answer. It means you play for fun, not to be #1 pro-mode.

No, absolutely not.

Even now my main character is not in META. Someone says my build is like a wanna be, something like kirito mindset. But that’s true. My play style or mine mindset is exactly like he said. And my character performance is really bad really really really suck if compare to something that better in his/their genius opinion.

But I find my character suit my ambition well. And all I do is just improve in my playing skill than look at a paper work or some math.

Every player doesn’t have same goal in this game. But you can’t judge them stupid by their character build. Even if I remake my character to a better performance, but if it’s not go along with my play style or my goal in this game. I would rather quit this game than doing it.

Even IMC nerf my fletcher kirito style more than now. I can deal with it. And no one can nor will beat my kirito-fletcher in my goal of this TOS game. Not even that genius build they say.
I will prove it by my play more than an air word they shout.

Nope time to quit then.

People like myself know the value of time and hardwork., I’ve already reroll once from sword (lvl 178) to archer (lvl 158 atm) as I mainly want to play dps but sword dps in this game is shiet so I reroll to archer and moved on.

Now if all that time and effort spent would be put to waste again., yes AGAIN. I’ll be effin mad rather furious… well who wouldn’t no?

Idk why others dont mind rerolling maybe their rich enough to play all day and doesnt have a job and work everyday to earn a living? Or maybe just a no lifer teen? Well nobody knows but starting all over again really sux I have a job and work for 8 hours a day in the office play 1-2 hours a day afterwork. sure I can play and level my new toon again a bit faster since I know where to go and what has to be done to level up faster but why do those things again? Just because iMC implemented new rules, balances ? Then why dont they just give us free resets its their fault not ours if only they played their game till endgame they would know which class needs balancing and do their assignments before launching the game., apparently they launched the game with so many flaws while we the players just took them hoping they would be fixed as soon as such flaws are reported but no most bugs are still intact its like were still playing cbt rofl

This is why class resets will be made in the long run no matter what other ppl say like this game is made of choices bla bla bla bla not everyone in this game has the time to reroll over and over again lol

Once a massive balance patch comes and breaks most builds im pretty sure alot of people will complain and ask for a class reset and tell imc that they can even double the reset’s price just to make them resets available.

Well have fun remaking a new character after every major balance update patch. People who do this simply have too much much time on their hands.

I wouldn’t remake the same class. If a character fails for me after 150+ levels i consider the class it was forever dead to me.

It’s not so much people not valuing their work to grinding with the character, but the theme and enjoyability of the character itself. You imply that everyone that doesn’t want to reroll want to be Meta at the same time.

And to be in the Meta means you have to realize that Metas do shift and things can change not only balance wise, but because of just what is accepted as optimal. If a dungeon comes out with monsters that can heavily reject magic, suddenly physical types as Swordies and Archers will become more prevalent for that purpose. While I agree that they should give out resets upon mass mechanic changing, you’re assuming people can’t have fun.

Honestly if you enjoy your class progressions, tell the meta to shove it. This game isn’t entirely competitive. Not atleast until Battle League comes and people clamor to make their PvP classes while leveling them in PvE.

This question was biased and poorly formulated, “after spending hundreds of hours on it”, whats the point of this sentence in the question?

Also with Remake do you mean making the same character again from scratch or a completely different character.

Perhaps I meant to use the word “reroll”. It means would you be willing to follow the path of rerolling in the event your characters become less ‘efficient’ as balancing and new content happens.

Rerolling can imply same character or different.

And the point was obvious? Would you be willing to have your time wasted, maybe multiple times to reroll your characters?

If it seems “biased” to you, then I apologize. I didn’t want to write another 5 paragraph question that will get ignored by all of the lazy people on the forum. Just wanted a simple poll with a quick to read question.

I would but at the same time I’m liking my build and hope to see what to rank 8s have to offer. So I don’t have really any preference.
