Although I still maintain that having class resets via TP option is bad… but having characters gain access to the class reset scroll via timed events or a long quest line is actually not that bad for the game. Can’t seem to find my old post on this where I talked about it. And since IMC has solved the technical problems which I talked about previously (templar problems, attribute problems), having a non-transferable, one time reset shouldn’t affect that game that much.
Having a long, hidden questline that gives the reward of a class reset scroll gives the following benefits:
-
Each character have the chance to reset only once. Having a limited reset prevents potential of abuse.
-
More content is added into the game, the pre-requisite can be set at around R6. The quest can be a long storyline which let’s the player explore his/her “true self”. With this more lore is added into the game too.
-
Eliminates the problem of having only 1 reset scroll and multiple characters needing it.
As oppose to TP based resets which brings in:
-
Another item for sale in market, increasing chance of RMT trades
-
Ability to use multiple times since is TP item, making it compete with other TP item sales such as exp tome since players don’t need to relevel anymore.
.
Example: For now if I want to reroll a character fast I would need to purchase around 9-10 x8 tomes (totalling 720tp) and roughly 6x DG reset scrolls (bought previously) just to get from lv1 - 280 (r1-r8) in 27hrs of gaming time.
-
Further divides the free players and the paying players.
Alternatively, the best solution will be to balance stats and classes so every class is good and viable at end game. It will be a very long time to get such balance though.
I support long chain quest based class reset that can only be completed once per character. Any more for same character, please reroll.
