Please dont disable Player to Player Trading!

I know this is a pretty hot topic but im pretty interested in giving my 2 cents.

  1. In any MMORPG player to player trading is essential. Be it real trade, selling items, or GIFTING THEM. Its an important mechanic given to the players to offer things to other people. WHich establishes relationships down the road. Ive made friends with people who I have traded with. ANd what an international community, predominately english speaking needs is something that promotes kindness. And trading doesnt offer that opportunity to the people. I can tell you how toxic that any online community can be. ANd how frustrating to me how a community appears when all you see is trolling.

I understand there is a need to make money, at the same time. There are alternative to doing that. And disabling trades isnt the best and more successful in the long term. As soon as someone joins the game and sees that they cant trade immediately. It becomes disheartening and demotivating.

  1. There are a few games that do things like Dragon Nest, requires you to use “Approval stamps” on items. And youc an buy those from the cashshop. People -HATE- it. Though some people deal with it. And the publisher added an item that you can get in game that has a chance at putting that same trading effect on the item. But its a very limiting system that effects players capacity to make funds for the game.

There are many alternative means to make real money through the game but effecting a basic feature thats ingame economical and social like trading doesnt help a positive experience. Its just a huge inconvenience. And people dont like this restriction regardless of themselves projecting it.

Certainly p2w is not what people want. And this is contriversial. To avoid that here are some suggestions. A lot of games make money by having items in the cashshop that do the following.

Recommended -
-Potions HP/SP *not to be used in PVP
-Shop Stall item. Allows players to set shops avoiding taxing(Who arnt trade classes).
-Vanity items_, sometimes that last 30 days. Or permanent_
-Pets Items
-EXP Buffs 30minutes to 7 days. <-- i think this maybe most wanted seeing the leveling speed of TOS.
-Emotion Animations
-Toy Effects
-Weapon Skins
-Character Alteration (Some games offer exclusive styles when using these)
-Gender Change
-Food Items *Recommend not effective in PVP or against players
—Food items would increase defense and attack towards monster of different types.
-Inventory Expansion
-Messanger Items *Totally down if megaphones were not easy to obtain
-Field Weapon Repair Items.
-Ressurection Items *Not to be used for PVP
-Character Slots *In this case Lodge Appearences
-General Shop Access in the field Key Items.
-In account item transfer effects
-Item discount effects
-Mailing Effects

I dunno these are all options to make money, but trading doesnt need to be disabled.

I thought for a moment you wanted a Pay2Play trading lol.
I can’t confirm for you if we will get it on Int version, but the KR version got probably to sell tokens for market place by Nexon’s request.
Imo that kind of thing don’t work on our market (western) but until the game come out we will have to wait and see, if they do that they will see lots of complains in here.

Thanks for the feed back guys!

Sry to say but i think will be token, go in FAQ section and search " token "…
…sadly news right…

whoa, I didn’t know trading was disabled.

To be honest, it works pretty well as a model from what I can see in Maplestory’s Reboot server. But I still agree. I feel like trading is really integeral to the experience of an MMO.

If anything, please allow trading for cosmetic items, money (with limits), and items like potions. This would curb economic problems and still allow players to interact with each other, imo.

If that Token is a P2W, I am going to be very upset… Trading was broken before the Token too. It punished normal players because of botters and such. Blah

Disable trading for free players is DUMB idea. And one step to make TOS single player game. What next?
You cant exp without token?
You cant pick up items without token?
You cant move without token?

It should be something extra, make life bit easier for player who dont have much time to play, not something that block BASIC mechanism in any MMO.

Reminded me of Archage, you needed CS money to open some loot boxes.

Are you guys completely unaware of why trading is disabled in the first place? It’s to stop gold sellers.

I used to play RuneScape and at one point they did something similar until they introduced “Bonds” which you can buy with irl money and then sell in-game to stop gold selling without limiting trade and of course people cried “P2W!!!”.

I don’t mind the trading being disabled for now though I do hope they find a better solution in the future.

Sorry but your argument is similar to “lets put all men to jail - so there wont be any rapists”.

And why we all should suffer because they sell gold? Special it wont change anything. Goldsellers will buy token, players who can afford buying gold will buy token too. So it will hit only free players.
Plus there is not even need to use token for that. For gold trade you can use AH.
Funny part is that gold sellers arent bad for players, they are bad for company. Why not for players? If there will be possibility to sell IS items at AH players with fat wallets will always be richest even without goldsellers. For me it doesnt matter if player spend 40$ on TP and sell stuff in AH or he buy gold from gold sellers. Effect is same for me, not for company. But again i dont want suffer because company cant handle their problem. And there are so many other ways to make goldselling unprofitable to make sellers move to other game where they can make more money.

There are tones of games where there is no gold sellers. Why? Because game make it really hard to bot. No targeting with keystroke, no auto target with some skills, no fixed boss respawn spots. Some of it begin to change, but still afk fight in Tos is way to easy (you need few small coins and book). This should change, not trading system. For me its going easy way.

If they want to prevent gold-selling, then they should just put a level requirement on trading silver or listing items on the market. It should also require a certain amount of quest completion so they couldn’t have just grinded to that level. And beyond that, they should rely on community policing, perhaps giving guilds a strike if their members have been caught doing it.

It’s not to stop gold sellers, at least not a serious attempt at it. As Lovelock pointed out, gold sellers and buyers will simply buy tokens too. What’s the difference then? The publishers get a share of the gold sellers profit. See the objective? :smirk:

the fact is,why would someone trade right when joining the game ?

Friend that wanted to play together? A person convinced by their partner to play? Help friend getting a low lvl drop[remeber Vubbe Fighter Blood in Crystal Mine 3F?]. Someone giving some freebies to newbies? lending your ekips to a friend.

Personaly i did the: helping getting low lvl drop, give some freebies to a friend and lend my good bow when i did get the next one to a friend.
[and i know about the potential drop to the itens]

Unfortunately, ask for IMC will result in anything. I think that removing the trade system is NOT the right solution for gold selling too, but for now is the “best way” that IMC has found to resolve this problem.

What the community could do to solve the trade problem, which is a consequence of the solution for gold selling, is come together, think and suggest a new and better solution for the main problem (gold selling), nullifying the need to remove the trade system; and this is obviously hard to do… But is the correct way to do it.

ps:sorry my english suck

The solution is simple, really.

How to stop Bots:

Just put branches in the game ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Each time i made new char and had party (which form around 2-3 quest for faster run) i was in situation that someone got item that he didnt need and someone else did. Because why swordsman need rod? Isnt it better to give your mage party member?

You are right, here is some suggestions i could think off. I just wrote down everything what came to my mind, so there is tones of space to upgrade and make it better.

Bot:
It quite easy to mess up with bots.

  1. Disable continuous attack on press hold. Players wont mind active clicking. Or keep attack on hold, but make necessary to release and hold it again every 5-10 sec. Thanks to that they would have make bot/macro for that and that can be tracked.
  2. Create in-game program (so it couldnt be turned off) to check if there is no 3rd party program running in background.
  3. To mess up with most of bot which are pixel based: game should move around. Change in 5-10 pixels in one side or another each time game launch will give tones of possibilities, and wont be noticeable for normal player, but will be huge change for bot. Little change of color (like make it bit lighter/darker) will work too.
  4. Put in game pop-up with simple math question (like how much is 2+5) with 20sec answer time. It should show up after some time of attacking (as sum of time in fight). Afk standing shouldnt get any as they just stand. If you fail in timer or put wrong answer you get kick from game, and IMC will get ticket. If it will occur more often its good proof of botting. OFC places like dungeon, quest boss, worldboss fight should be out of it (as this few sec of doing nothing while answering question can kill you) and its not so common for botters use this places.
  5. Weight limit. Lower how much low level players can carry, and pump it up to normal state around lvl 100 - most of low level maps have shop keepers, exping is based on quest not grind, so only botter take 100% from it. And make them run over and over again to sell it because of limits will lower overall profit from botting.

How to make goldsellers life harder:

  1. New in-game currency. Gold. How its different from silver? Well its can used for everything (after we run out of silver) + have use in trade (silver will be bound currency to use for attribute, pots, class mats and repairs). Each player can trade some silver to gold once day for amount based on his lvl or it will trade auto at daily game reset so noone will suffer if they forget to do it or werent able to log in for few days (only this way - no events, no IS, only silver for gold trade*).
  • Most of goldsellers bots are low lvl just going into number. Thanks to that they wont be able to use it in fully, as f.e. lvl 250 could exchange 1000-2000x more than lvl 30.
  • If goldseller make this lvl 250 it will hurt him if he lose it. And will make this more risky, and less profitable for them.
  • High ratio $ to gold on low lvl will make it unattractive with each level up.
    Few other pros:
  • (*)Make all crafter classes worth playing on every stage of game (materials bought for silver while crafters service will be sold by gold. An extra way to get gold over daily limits and will expand how “low” crafter can go without losts).
  • It will limit any money abuse in game and its effect on economy. Even if someone will find way to get XXXmln silver at lvl 1 he wont have much use from it (all silver items will be bound to char).
  • Balance economy - no overpriced low lvl items, simply low lvl players wont have that kind of money from start.
  1. Transaction tracking. Probably with gold currency most goldsellers will use low lvl alts to finish deals to prevent losing “main trader”. Tracking this type of trades wont be big problem even with thousands trades per day - it would stand out when high lvl give tones of money to low and than low give it to another player (special if non of them are in same family) for nothing. Or when someone gives out exactly same amount as gold seller ads spam to multiple players. Its not like reading letters or censorship. Its IRS :stuck_out_tongue: Plus paying 5$ to goldseller just to track his main would be valid way to get him.
  2. Give some players (with IMC blessing) temporary chat ban. If f.e. 5 of them mark same player in short period of time he will get mute (without notification - so he wont know when it happens and still spam msg, but noone but him see it). With mute, ticket will be send by auto to IMC for investigation. If player was goldseller (based on chat history of this char) - he will get permban. If its not, and “watchers” overused they power, they will lose it. Maybe to encourage this behavior small reward for GOOD hit could show up. It will help keep chat clear from ads and will work much faster than making psc, post on forum/write direct ticket and wait for respond while goldseller still spam us.
  3. Make it bit harder for spam sign up. Some extra authorization like sms-code send to player upon registration to make it more expensive for gold sellers to make new accounts in infinity by buying new numbers over and over again. To make it easy for alt addict players allow use one number multiple times, but if ANY of account get banned because of bot/gold selling ALL accounts will be banned.

Maybe some ideas are extreme, but looking what IMC “offers” it still looks better (like limited trade with gold over non trade at all). And some can be put in one in mixed form. Like Watcher who can not only mark player to mute with others, but send math pop-up to player who act like a botter to check him out with some ground rules (f.e. only usable in 10 sec after last action - to prevent that standing afkers got kick).

+1 to this.

Someone is on the right track here, but also, don’t forget to promote players in the community to avoid buying these “Gold Pixels”!

that some good ideas some of them are extrem and most making perfekt sense are way better than that what they are doing right now
