They don’t invest in new players, they throw bait at them. Since the TP shortage made Tokens on the market skyrocket in price, it’s pretty much a useless struggle on the lesser populated servers to get one for silver.
This means new players may want to invest $$$ to get the monthly benefits, as ~9$ is still “cheap” for a monthly optional subscription.
Everyone who buys is a profit. They could’ve also offered like 100-250$ for eternal Token benefits as e.g. FRO (the European official RO server) offers (200 Euro for lifelong premium status), but they did not.
Seems like the founder packs were a really bad experience for the management.
If IMC really wanted to invest into new players, they’d have to revise most parts of the game system. However, they made everything that counts as standard way too easy to achieve(be it main quest statpoints, clearing dungeons, leveling, farming non-rare stuff) to keep them interested in the game (the same problem that high rate RO private servers have: Once you’ve farmed everything and leveled to the top there’s nothing more to do aside of PVP).
Once you’ve reached the point where you only log in to level alts, reroll mystical cubes and run Saalus x times, it’s just a question of willpower to keep repeating the same stuff day after day. Same with the repetitive events.
Everything is way more boring than real life, even work is more fun.
And there are frustrating bugs that make your gaming experience bad.
The recent bug of Merkabahs Divine Potection attribute malfunctioning e.g. made me lose up to 50% of my potential damage, while other players crash their and other players clients with their skillbugs…
