Plague Doctor Future Questions

Hi everyone!
I had a wizard for some time for farming purposes and am planning to roll a cleric as my main cause its the class i like the most.
I have been reading the forums lately for some build paths that can solo PVE (which is my main objective, although i play with friends occasionally) and run across some meta builds and the one that really interested me was diev3-miko-pd2, but i have some questions about the future(and present) of the class:

1)I read that R8 content is full of mobs with very high mdef, which makes wizards life difficult. PD can do well in this content by himself?

2)Is plague doctor only viable because of agny? how was the cleric soloist meta before agny?

3)Is diev in this build only for ausrine? without it would still be worth to get these ranks?

I’m asking these questions because 1) PD is a green icon class(intended support…), 2) and 3) although i think agny will not get any further nerfs i’m pretty sure the combo melstis+ausrine will be nerfed in the future and want to prevent getting ranks only for broken combos…

Thanks cleric friends!

  1. Plague doctor can do fine because the base damage from the skills are high, i solo 300+ with a full con pd just fine.

  2. Incinerate was strong before agny, after agny it turned to be ridiculous strong.

  3. Diev is there for uptime silence, cd reduction, infinite owls and debuffs that give more time for your incinerate

ty very much for the responses!!!
i didnt paid attention to the base damage, you’re totally right.
Do you recommend i high con PD? or is it only for pvp?

High con is only for PVP, PVE you can go full int with good equipment or a few points in con and the rest in int. You have Ausrine, Healing factor, Safety zone etc that makes you basically immortal in PVE.

Just to lower your hype a little:

  1. Agni is currently considered as in need for adjustment by the developers, so you might expect a “nerf” in the future.

  2. Since the resistance of monsters against status ailment damage was raised, expect that you won’t be able to incinerate monsters as easily as last year.

These two things won’t affect Plague Doctor that much, but should be considered as most of your damage stems from Plague Vapors&Incinerate, so do be sad if you won’t be able to output the same numbers as players managed before.

I dont want to be the “god” of pve, just wanted an independent cleric build that can do pve content well and reach endgame

  1. If i remember correctly since its launch in korea agny was already nerfed 2 times, if they adjust it i dont expect a huge nerf since pyro (the reason of agny) without it do no damage and it is supposed to be a dps class (no utility, unlike cryo, sorc, etc). Can you link me to any dev discussion about agny? (my farmer is pyro and personally i think it is in a good spot, it is not like i’ll be soloing ET besides that i need a good setup to deal dmg)

  2. This is already implemented? If so i think it is just part of the game like there are link resistant, fire resistant mobs etc. One cannot be good at everything.

Thanks for your response! I’m fairly new to the cleric branch and from my searching the other good solo capable pve options i saw was krivis-taoist (which my duo friend already mains) and inquisitor path (which is physical and dont attract me) so any suggestions are welcome too

You pick Diev because it’s a very good source to slab debuffs on a lot of enemies.

Your main source of damage is incineration and the only thing PD needs is a way to debuff enemies as you can only use it on debuffed enemies.
The CD statue especially is very good to do this, silence statue also. Other options are worse. Bokor is decent but relies a lot on pandemic for Hexing spread and Pandemic has too much CD for quality of life.
If you just want to jump from monster from monster questing through PVE then Bokor is a good alternative as it is indeed easily doable to hex 2-3 monsters (low cd) and then burn these. But for anything else Diev is a lot better.

You can play a magical Inquisitor. This class deals retarded high amount of damage especially coupled with Miko. The Book (high hit count) adds the monsters matk to every hit of yours after defense. That means you can kill about anything with Hamaya and those pesky high def mobs get the Book in their face and then die to Hamaya. This as a sidenote.

lol i really liked your inquisitor description :joy:

Initially i wanted to be a bokor, but dumb zombies and lack of aoe/overall utility made me go away from it. I agree with you, diev provides much more utility for solo and party play. Bokor provides more damage and boost but although i dont have a constant group to play with me, sometimes you need to party for grind, dg, uphill, et and the extra utility makes difference.

Is int inquisitor worth it? i mean, it only have one magic skill with 30sec CD. The skills have really high numbers though.

Thanks for the opinion! i’m studying the paths before rolling as this cleric will be my main

Bokor doesn’t deal more damage than diev. Spamming hexing deals about the same damage 1 owl does and 2 owls outdamages hexing spam and this without you having to do anything but standing right as diev.
What Bokor gives you is a very strong AOE CC with the zombie train. It has 0 downtime and anything your zombies touch gets kicked down (cc).

Int Inquisitor is worth it or a mix. The book is super strong and Miko Hamaya is one of the strongest AoE dps skills in the game after all. And also with Pears and Wheel you get 2 phyiscal dps/utility skills that deal a high amount of damage against anything protected against magic.
Sidenote: Pears and Wheel although being physical are not affected by dodge so you don’t even need dex to hit everything.

PD needs high investment before it really pays off, Inquisitor is quite cheap because you can play Inquisitor as damage support/boost with magic Inquisitor you only need to invest into Hamaya and you are able to boost Hamaya with the book and any melee with the wheel.

anything with plague doctor2 can solo

black death steam + incineration = gg

other rank is just for utility/synergy/filler

How to say “Necromancer” in another way.

it was a pyro… linker+pyro+thauma
and i gain more money than afk necros per hour…
ofc they have the advantage of being afk but i dont like it

i made it for farming but it proved to be en excellent pick, until now i can do everything with it, if i were to main a wizard i would choose him for sure
