Physical or Magic Defense?

Do you think using plate armor (and leveling up the attributes) might be much better than using the cloth armor? Both wizard and archer monsters’ skills hurt a lot, so I’m wondering… Which one is more necessary than the other? Do they have the same or separate formula for each other?

The way the game is now, plate for more health. You either eat the damage with lots of health or you stack ■■■■ that avoids all incomming damage.

I’m stacking leather + high dex and con on my fencer which avoids most damage other than magic where high con fills the void.

If you are an archer, use leather armor.
If you are a dps wiz/cleric, use a cloth glove and the rest plate.
If you are anything else, use full plate.

Plate because of Aspersion.
Getting damage reduced to 1 is important if you can manage it.

Cloth doesn’t give much unless you want the stats of the blue/purple gear.

Honestly if you want HP from Plate, you’re better off just socketing HP from Gems. The HP gained from the full attribute is rather minuscule.

That said, it’s weird. Mages prefer to wear Plate for survivability, but I keep hearing Swordsmen who go cloth as usually Physical damage is trivial and it’s more magic that hurts them above all else. Usually 3 Cloth + Accuracy Gloves.

Never heard about swordsmen with cloth before, but what you say makes a strange kind of sense.

Do you think the same could work with a high dex archer?

if you are tanking magic mobs cloth set is what you need it mitigates 15% magic damage from the mastery

plate mitigates 15% physical damage for physical mobs

leather gives evasion and nothing else

What I want by wearing plate armor isn’t HP, but the physical defense though.

So change our equipments depending on the mobs? Sounds like an idea.

You should carry two different sets of armour. Plate won’t save you against Strike bosses, or anything with decent power.

cloth type is useless in this game because

it gives crap p.def also crap m.def
the magic damage reduction from passive even weaker than hp bonus from plate passive

so most of people up to plate set
high dex archer can up to light set

When i was lower level (under 200) i used to switch between full plate and cloth in dungeons when i was in a part of magic mobs or P mobs.

But after awhile i just noticed that it does not matter that much and it’s not worth to upgrade (+ it) both sets when it gets really expensive at higher levels.

HP is your best friend to any damage in this game for now…

Normally wiz just wear 3 plate piece and cloth gloves for m.amplification

and physical dps class such as archer (fletcher etc) wear the same and vubbe fighter or roxona plate for gloves coz aoe ratio.

and when the patch comes to us there will be new set of accs from 160 dun that gives % magic resistance with specific element as well.

Tanking with swordsman sucks, they’re better off lurers/baits rather than tanks, give clerics aggro skills and they can tank mobs and bosses even better than swordsman.

wiz is the most strongest pvp class in the game right now
also the mdef and m.dmg reduction from cloth set are not even effective than plate set bonus hp from lv 50 passive

I’m talking PVE as in tanking dmg… i assume no one gives a sh*t yet about this unbalanced stuff what they call pvp in this game.
