The reason why hunters will want a penguin is cuz the penguin mitigates a lot of frustrations that is plaguing the hunter class, not the bonus statuses penguin brings to the table.
Take a look and you will see what I mean. A normal companion just will not make the cut until IMC do something about it.

U may have the best cash items but if you have butterfingers no amount of money spent can save u from dying.
What are Penguin stats at lvl 1 anyway ?
Do you get that Mdef and Pdef bonus when you are riding it and it do not have stamina anymore ?
Btw what are Quinea pig stats ?
What are Quinea pig aura bonus ?
And R8 (maybe even R9 ?) supposedly have stables in guilds for another pets purchase.
They can make Penquin obsolete instantly by providing different bonuses, same bonuses but with cheaper food etcâŚ
And who knows maybe we will get evollutions of basic pets also to better varietes, cause I believe I am not only one being sad in prospect of killing my highest leveled team member (pet :)) cause he is âmoraly obsoleteâ
All of those HUR DUR IT HAVE EXPENSIVE FOOD would be fixed easily by pets either regain stamina when afk/offline or gaining some stamina from crystals. Also in arena/dungeons/missions pets should be considered fed all the time as you cant use food items there
Ahh and I have over 1k free TP from IMC, they are willing and giving lot of premium currency for events etc.

Looking at this post and the stats on that over size hamster and raccoon. Ppl who have guilds and play hard in pvp are P2W (Play 2 win)
First time catapract here. Apparantly you need to feed your companion to get the companion bonus.attributes. hp ,defense, and evasion. Sigh.
Yeah buth if you play smart only way for your companion to EVER die as Cata is to play arena cause pets die there a lot cause collaterall
In PvE your death will not lower pet stamina (its very hard to ever die in PvE as cata anyway :))

i donât think its whiteknighting⌠i think its the fact that some people just wont play the game as it should intend to be. so they whine here cuz they want the game to play by their convenience.
In conclusion:
So either make it that pets can function even without stamina (i.e give stats) or make it not lose stamina upon death, or just make the food cheaper.
