Peltasta c1...is it actually worth it for hoplite?

well fu ck them, we can make our own crappy rejected swordmans/non-healer-clerics groups… even if we take twice in kill something :stuck_out_tongue:

Just nitpicking, but all Clerics have (or should have) the ability to heal, because they don’t really miss out on more important skills by taking 5 ranks of Heal in their base class circle. This is unlike swashbuckling, which is not baseline for Swordsmen and requires us to sacrifice a class circle to fulfill our only niche in party play.

Being the mobber/aggro magnet in the party also requires us to pay more attention to mob pathing and ability cues/AI patterns to effectively fulfill our party role, while Clerics only need a button press and a small bit of SP to heal.

yeah but they need at least cleric c2 to be considerer in a party, because just 5 tiles suxs

Starting from ~220 lvl and until the 280 (basically the end of the game for now) all you can do to lvl up is grind in 5 man party basically.
And those parties will look for “Taunt”. You just run around and taunt 3-4+ monsters to make grind efficient. Without taunt you can pretend to get in a party as “DPS” but I can guarantee you it will be low priority compared with wizards / archers.
If you have no friends to party with and overcome the common opinion about it, then you’ll have a hard time lvling up and getting in random grind parties.

That’s how IMC balanced it.

Just some update as I played a bit more TOS:

After grinding my way to lvl 100+ I finally realized Swash is simply too good not to have, and guardian + manual guards are just godsend. In fact, now I’m having a tough time seeing as to how anyone can justify not going pelt. Thanks for everyone’s input on this matter. Appreciate it a bunch!

Pain barrier is fantastic as well for the knockdown immunity. You can sit through any sort of tough attack for a full stabbing/pierce rotation. With provoke attribute you will not lose aggro to anything whatsoever. Had a cryomancer spam ice wall against tree boss in the mission dungeon and it literally died in 10 seconds and never turned around to interupt him.

If you go highlander… you can do just as much block using a skill…
Swash is good, but highlander can make you deal -a bit- more damage with two handed swords.

Stills, yes I agree, peltasta’s skills are awesome

It’s incredibely useful for any swordsman, especially for a hoplite which is using a shield. A few extra levels of gung ho, concentrate (which all fall down like a brick and are barely worth a buff slot later in the game) are irrelevant. Higher level pain barrier is indeed useful but doesn’t compare to the utility you gain from manual blocking and swashbuckle.
