I invited someone right in front of the Specter Boss, before triggering it.
They accepted and I could see their icon on the left side.
I approached the spawn point, the cinematic started and the boss appeared.
My member isn’t with me to fight the boss though.
Is there something I missed to pull them into the instance?

There is a possibility that they didn’t finish the pre-requisite to fight the boss. It is possible to redo a boss fight but not fight the boss before finishing the quests before. It happened to me before as well. I joined a party thinking I was going to fight a boss I didn’t reach in the story yet but given a message that I haven’t completed the previous quests.
