Pala C3 -> Kabbalist or Monk C1?

Hello there.

I’m atm unsure what class I should pick at R7, and now R8. I am a STR Paladin (classic C2->Diev1->Pala3), I have ~14.4k HP and I still feel really squishy (1HKOs aren’t so rare in instance dungeons for me, even with plate armor). I wanted to pick Monk C1 so I could have a better damage output and somehow a better AoE damage (using Deprotected Zone + Hand Knife mechanics), however Kabbalist C1 now becomes an option, as I kind of imagine my Paladin being chopped in 99 pieces in Earth Tower…

Now, with Inquisitor possibility of (at least for the moment) really nice damage output, some anti-mage mechanics and a support for STR Clerics, I’m quite unsure if Monk’s damage would be necessary…

Do you have any opinions for this? Thanks for reading.

Why Diev only C1? Get it to C2 instead of getting Monk C1 is better I think

Although I have ~80 total INT, I think Carve Owl would deal a somewhat low damage, and still Monk has the advantage of stamina-costing skill and that somewhat-AoE Palm Strike. I just guess it’s kinda too late to pick up Diev and rank it up

Monk C1 will be mostly for soloing stuff. DP spam and palm strike are quite bad at higher level content when you compare your damage with other classes. You also won’t achieve the damage of a C3 Monk because paladin lacks a bit in damage department. The monk + inquisitor combo looks nice, and I think inquisitor would look good in a STR build. But we have no idea how wagon wheel + DP will work yet.

Are you using resist elements with your paladin? It mitigates damage by A LOT and makes you way less squishy.

Kabbalist C2 looks a lot more like utility than DPS. Ein Sof level 10 also sounds hella nice to keep your survivability nice and steady. Probably a better pick if you intend to be more supportive. Also fun (but not comparable to PD) for pvp. If the kabbalist C2 multi-hit buff works for skills, be sure Smite will be the skill to use it with.

I personally wouldn’t go for diev 2 in your situation. Carve world tree is awesome and -the- thing to have in ET but having a diev paladin kinda feels like you’re not really attaining the best from either worlds. Paladins are already kind of “meh” in ET due to the fact of barrier skill being scrollable… If I wanted to focus on ET and diev now, I would probably make a new character.

Actually, I am. It’s lv. 15 so it should help me, but hits ranging around 10.000 still happen, while even wizzes are tanking better than me ;-;. In Siauliai I realized this… maybe I should get Kabba C1 then, more HP and a damage resource (Merkabah) would help me more than Monk DPS, it seems.

Still, Merkabah seems INT-based, so I’m kinda insecure about it. And a plus about stats build… I’m adding some dex now as I got a Magas Mace, thinking about Monk’s crit atks… I have a really low base dex (38) so, I’d like to ask your opinions about it. 208 STR seems enough, 87 CON is okay imo, INT a bit low but balanced, and SPR is low but kind of useless to focus on, and DEX in a Kabba build seems inviable.

It’s partly IMC’s class design flaw, so don’t worry you’re not alone.

Imo you can pick PD and then Inquisitor. PD is quite neutral and provides great supportive skills (Hello, Healing Factor and Bloodletting). Kabbalist tends to favor int users.

It seems PD doesn’t have a good synegy with a STR Paladin, as I actually don’t have enough debuffs to be spread to justify its use (Conviction is strong, but being it and Deprotected Zone the only debuffs I can spread it is not really effective). Incinerate is based in debuffs, and I don’t have a lot, neither INT to make the damage really effective IMO.

I guess I’ll pick Kabbalist, as I have some issues with SP and I think the Max HP increase would be worthier than that extremely high HP regen. Guess I’ll pick Kabba, as I can solve two problem at once.

Thank you guys. :3

If you are taking r7 for PD…best 1of your filler class is either krivis/bokor c1…
Krivis c1 go dex&spr or full spr helps ur solo capabilities n tanking all magic too.
Bokor c1 is just for hex n zombie(though annoying but it helps) u can build str/int/dex/spr is totally up to u. (Give you a hint, never ever wear any aoe defense ratio item if u going for zombies they get hit from aoe first instead of you, just treat them as disposable meat shield)

If you have diev at least c1… u can pick pardoner/oracle/kabbalist. PD don’t sync very well with diev…Unless you just wan status immunity.

PD kabbalist skill don’t need stats to favour coz the base dmg is high. This games is either u pick a c3 same class for dps n pump attribute or support/Jack of all tricks

I have played the Monk1Paladin3 build extensively and have made a few posts about it so far. I left it int he 260s to take a break from the game. I think it’s a good path into Inquisitor if it is indeed a physical class. That being said, Kabbalist C2 will probably be a lot better. You’ll have a much easier time surviving, have stronger support capabilities, and you’ll have an easier time participating in TBL and Earth Tower. For your stat layout, I think Kabbalist is a great choice.

I actually played the build following the Paladin>Monk Build Compendium’s suggested stat distribution and had ~80 int to make early game easier but honestly it just screws you later. Restatting heavily into DEX gave me a lot higher DPS than pure STR. The 80 INT really isn’t that useful later either because you will be using heal tiles exclusively for healing and with level 1 cure’s damage is too abysmal at high levels to be worth those invested points. If you want to follow the Monk>Inquisitor path, consider restatting if you have a stat reset potion. If you don’t, I really think Kabbalist is a better fit.

Maybe kabbalist 2 for this?

Smite must hurt a ton if it works with this.

Yeah, I just followed this guide’s advice about int… Cure is working atm as gap-feeling for me when Carve/Smite are in CD, but it’s damage is mediocre, being useful just to proc Blessing…

I do think it’s a major flaw that they’re selling Skill reset pots and no Stat Reset pots, considering that Founder’s Pack stopped selling about 6 months ago… I guess? I’m investing in Dex for now, not sure if it’ll be useful since I have so little points… kind of a hybrid, as STR at this moment won’t do any more goods with some points.

@Anarth Kabba C2 seems really attractive, however it’s still doubtful for me, as anti-magic resources serve much better IMO, even tho Conviction-Smite with that skill would obliterate mobs and bosses easily  … guess It’ll take a month or so to plan my char for this.
