So I played as much as possible during the beta, and I have to say I enjoyed it. I made multiple characters to test out the classes (other than the warriors, not a fan of them… in any game really) and have a bunch of feedback.
We’ve spoken a lot about the EXP grind, and I will agree that the grind gets in real early to the game. Some people say that the max level will be 600, and if the grind starts when we hit 30, and starts so hard, that’s going to be problematic since there are such huge gaps in the story quests at that point. Some people enjoy grinding, but many don’t. I’m sure there’s some way that this can easily be remedied. The largest issue is that the world is so small that you’re pretty much forced to level on one map or going back to fight weaker monsters (over kill exp is yummy) while hunting blues. Fighting higher level monsters seems to give only a little more exp, but they are much harder to kill so it’s not worth it in the long run.
Equipment is interesting. Each class seems to have their own two weapons (generally 1 or 2 handed with or without a shield) and that’s nice. The level jumps between needed gear levels is a little strange. It has 1, 15, 40 (unsure of the rest as I was busy testing the classes and whatnot, and my mom’s in the hospital so I didn’t get as much play time as I wished) which is a little strange, considering the weapons aren’t all that good, especially for cleric, at 15. I think it’d make more sense to have it 1, 15, 30, 50, 70 or something like that so that you don’t have that huge of a wait for better weapons after the ones from 15. For cleric it seems their options are their clubs for the mix of damage and magic damage so their autos and spells do decent damage, or to carry a sword for pure damage… because there are no two handed maces or anything for them like the warriors and wizards which sucks. The damage on their weapons is much lower than wizard or warrior since it has a mix of the two, and have a two handed mace or like a fighting staff or something would be really nice. I’d give up that bonus armor for some extra damage here and there, switching it in when I am grinding and whatnot and then switching out for bosses. Just an idea. Love cleric classes but my damage seems pretty low compared to all the other classes (having to purely rely on others to help me do the quests in the first floor of that church kinda really sucked since I was doing so little damage, even tho i went pure int/spr for magic, along with a lil con and had those gloves of +10 str)
I also think it’d be pretty cool/crazy if some of classes ran into one another down the tree. Like Paladin was something cleric OR warrior could get, and instead of that aura increasing their hp regen it just healed around them per second or something (so pally warrior could be a decent choice) and then a Sage (wizard cleric) that could throw down area skills like one that heals or damages per second, having a max for healing and damage separately, and whatnot. Would be interesting, since many of the classes already have rank classes that sound similar and whatnot.
Stats seems pretty solid. Only problem I see is CON. It doesn’t seem to give any actual defense, where as SPR does give SP, SP Rec, and Magic Def. Con gives HP, HP Reg, and more inventory slots. I feel like Con really should give some armor. A warrior wearing plate mail going pure CON shouldn’t have the same def as any other class wearing the same exact gear.
The stat boosts from wearing 3-4 of the same armor type is really nice, but leather seems a bit lacking. The other two gives two boosts (magic res/sp, hp/armor… and then leather just gives eva) so maybe add on either crit or crit damage? not both, just one or the other.
More little mini bosses like that… radish thing in the mining village map would be nice. While it only gave a couple decent armor, those armors were really nice for that level. I farmed it for a Meteor and still use that shield at level 32. I’d love for more of those around.
Channels were iffy sometimes. It seemed to depend on how many players there were online at the time, but would randomly drop the channels back down to 3. For the most part the channels were under 5, and that kinda sucks when you’re hunting something for crafting because all of them had tons of people on them. I feel like it should be a static 10 in game, and then go up from there if there’s more people on than usual. Add on the fact that it would randomly shoot you around channels, moving you from your party members when changing maps… it kinda sucked.
I love the game, but it has so much potential to get greater.
