Oracle thoughts

More of a theory craft/rambling post… experienced Oracle responses are appreciated! :hamburger: I was considering a third option to an R7 selection other than the PD (which is FotM/the one everyone will pick when they hit R7 ) and the Kabbalist (still don’t understand their number skills but I like the outift :stuck_out_tongue:): the oracle.

Just a couple of questions about Oracle:

  1. Forecast - does this work in pvp?

  2. Counter spell - what does ToSbase mean when it says ‘Targets’? The number of magic circles? Does that mean it’s kind of like a dispel we can use against enemy healers (in pvp)?

  3. Prophecy - I guess it’s kind of like a weaker version of bloodletting on a shorter cooldown/potentially cheaper sp depending on what level you take it.

What determines the level of status ailments? Could be good on top of bloodletting in case you don’t need the lv2 immunity I guess?

Does this work like Divine Might where it ‘prevents’ one instance of a debuff?

Technically at rank 5, the duration will = the cooldown of the spell so r5 should be enough (I think).

  4. Arcane Energy - stamina is ok for monks I guess?.. the sp buff just increases your fuel tank but not the amount of fuel inside  so it’s a bit so-so IMO

if oracle skills work in pvp, it might be an interesting class to try out. will flip a coin when i hit R7 to see if I roll a Kabba or Oracle C1 :sunglasses:

I’ve been wondering about Oracle as well. I had wanted to take it for both Rank 6 and 7 of my support PvE build. It just seems like a really cool class. But here’s what I’m wondering:

Change - seems cool just because of the passive drop rate buff. What does this work on? Just mobs or also bosses?

Arcane Energy - seems like a great group buff. Stamina will increase the dps of Swordsman and Archers mostly and everyone likes more SPR because there’s a lot of non-Cleric classes that are huge mana hogs.

Clairvoyance - see what the mob will drop, seems great! Will let me know if the mob is worth killing. Also, does this work on bosses?

Resetting - Do I use this after Clairvoyance or after an item has already dropped? Also again, what mobs does this work on? Just mobs or also bosses?

Forecast - obviously sounds nice. Makes PvE easier.

Prophecy - since I’m not into Plague Doctor, putting this at Rank 4 seems like a good idea?

Counter Spell - can I use this to remove boss magic circles? Does this only affect enemy circles or also friendlies? Also, is targets the number of circles?

ME as oracle have to say to everybody: DON’T CHOOSE ORACLE!

The skills are poorly underpowered. Change is a complete mess, bugs everywhere.

Clairvoyance 20 seconds cd is a shitty skill, don’t work on bosses because the boxes, so i see almost no use at all.

Resetting 2 minute cd is complete bullshit.

Counterspell blocks x times enemy skills, works great in pvp ONLY.

Prophecy is a debuff blocker for x times y time, is the best skill imo.

This class is complete trash, don’t choose at all, you gonna regret.

counterspell doesn’t work on allied spells?

yes, it works, all spells

That’s disappointing but thanks for letting us know. I had a feeling from other posts that this might be the case but I love the idea of the class so I was hoping it would be fun. I’ll have to rethink what to do for my last two ranks I guess.

Do you have any idea how the Arcane Energy:Additional Damage attribute works?

Don’t be too glum. Counterspell is useful in Earth Tower for zoning outside Barrier. Nice thing to prevent those nasty 6-15K damage magic projectiles, pending what level you enter at.

It’s at least one thing you can look forward to.

How does Magic circle do anything to magic projectiles? I thought it only cleared stuff that was ground based, like Heal and Fire wall.

Heck, could you make a quick little list of stuff that is/is not affected?

Oracle is a mixture of chance and protection. But if you plan to go further up the ranks in class, it would be wise if your mentality was tuned towards taking chances and on guard for ambushes.

Change can be pretty useful if you are grinding heavily due to its auxiliary, especially when you need to find certain recipes. Higher levels in change are only required if you plan to farm more often. Other than that you shouldn’t go higher than lv 1.

Clairvoyance/Resetting: This depends on drop rates in general. When comparing to the database, if the drop rate of a desired item is around 20%, resetting does a pretty good job of having the drop present itself. The CD is high and could probably use a cd of less than one minute, but has its uses if you want to take a chance at getting a rare item (I’ve gotten recipes to drop through this)

Arcane Energy - A simple buff, but can be utilized to draw in mobs through its auxiliary.

Prophecy - Comparable to PD’s bloodletting, but only good against lv 1 effects

Counterspell - You should be learning this regardless.

Overall: Oracle is your support that isn’t anything exceptional or useless, but its unique in the aspect that you can take a chance at making the worst situation either better, or worse.

Thats not true. Its a good 1 of Rank for PVP as you sorta mentioned. But yea thats about it lol.

Its mostly trash not complete trash.

Is it only me or the forecast effect is barely visible?

I gotta say, oracle may be broken in a lot of ways, but it’s also one of my biggest choices for the upcoming R6.

I mean yeah the cooldown on resetting sucks like how rick says, but it’s also a phenomenal tool for farming rare items like gold bar or gigantic shinbone. And even if you don’t get what you want after using it (And an over heat?) You can still just change the monster for a 2.5% chance of getting lucky (With the attribute)

And then of course there’s counterspell, arguably one of the most devastating tools to use in pvp.

Oracle 3 (when it will be revealed will determine the true strength of this class). If anything, Oracle 3 should be a RNG monster coupled with defensive skills.

So counterspell prevents ally magic attacks too, if they’re within the aura?

I don’t think Oracle needs more RNG effects. Well applied future sight would have the effect of ‘choosing’ the path to the best furture. If anything, it would be a reduction in rng that is Oracle’s thing, and thats what it already does.

I think a fitting buff that isn’t in yet would be setting minimum damage to be equal to maximum damage. This would have the side effect of making Magic amplification much better for Oracles.

Spoiler: Oracle c3 skill is too stronk; gender change…
