Optimize your game's engine to place heavy use on graphics cards

I understand you would basically have to rip the engine apart and start over from scratch to get ToS to use multiple cores like all other modern games. I don’t approve of this lack of initiative, but I understand it.

But you’ve got to offload more resources to video processing. Holy moly. It’s unbelievable, seeing this game’s low-intensity, low-resource effects demolish my framerate because they’re all competing for my Core 0 of my CPU and ignoring a bored video card.

A LOT of users are completely barred from enjoying guild vs guild battles because of the massive strain multiple player models place on a single CPU core. Obviously I’m one of them.

Actually, most games DON’T use multiple cores, because there are still too many computers with CPUs that either can’t handle it, or the game simply doesn’t NEED to utilize multiple cores…and since you’re problably one of the group of people who runs the game on a toaster, I suggest upgrading your PC.

And it’s hard to tell if it is your computer or the game…when you wont post what type of CPU, GPU, and RAM (and how much, what channel, cache, etc) you have installed so we can find out you have a bottleneck going on…

Absolutely, I have a bottleneck going on. I have one of the early generation i7’s, which were excellent multi-threaders with mediocre individual clock speed. ToS puts one core at 90-100% and nearly ignores my graphics card, as evidenced by task manager and MSI afterburner. I’ve never seen ToS use more than a couple gig of ram, so that isn’t it.

Calling me out on well known stuff is kind of silly. This is a well known issue - the primary bottleneck for most people is CPU speed.
