Optimization actually works!

Dear IMC,

Please accept my sincere thanks for SOMETHING you’ve done with netcode with Boruta patch.

It actually works. Wow. We defended Boruta with 54 members yesterday against another guild, and even though it crashed several times, overall performance was satisfactory. Definitely much better than before. And I see now that the same “emergency mode” of handling packages is now used in most boss scenarios. My FPS and overall game responsiveness on bosses is much better now, I believe.

Pls give whoever is responsible an increase in salary and my personal thanks.

Thank you, you glorious bastards.

PS. Now don’t get me wrong. It’s not super-good, I’m not singing praises. But I definitely see an improvement now, good job.

lmao

On the topic - yeah, FPS became better

You can actually throw a party and celebrate each time netcode gets better, cuz it’s kinda #1 problem for this game, much more serious than anything else period.

I mean, this is a huge change but such a silent one… So I kinda felt I needed to put en emphasis on it.

This thread feels like it is from bizzaro ToS - Boruta was awful yesterday, boss unkillable since the channel crashed like 10 times and he healed to full.

At one point the boss completely disappeared and a GM had to come in and completely reset the encounter and channel.

Desyncing was just as bad as it was in the GTW betas. Perhaps worse.

Boruta actually felt better than gem feud after rebuild. I have no idea why considering there’s like multitudes more people in Boruta than gem feud.

That doesn’t say much though, because gem feud was and is still awful with lag and crashes.

@Remiri

Maybe you actually had more ppl or smb crashing it? We had 2 crashes before most ppl left for Feud (so 2 in 2 hrs).

@Ennislol

Have you noticed how even running with WASD feels different at boruta? It’s like they added some kind of emergency mode which simplifies player interaction with environment (moving in this case) in situations when there is a boss on the screen, thus making those packages procedure faster. I wish I made more sense, I was just implying, that SOMEHOW, playing my character FELT different at Boruta, mechanically. Some of my guildies noticed the same thing, but most didn’t.

I never felt the game doing that stuff before, and today I felt it switched to that mode again when I was killing Zaura. If it makes sense, it feels like my character was moving on tiny squares, like in RO or any other grid-based game. It certainly feels different from your everyday ToS experience.

PS. But yeah, Feud on the same day was even worse then before lol.

I’ve entered just to check the guild Silute had monopolizing it and got killed instantly and didn’t even see the animation on the player that killed me. It’s like fightintg 40 people desynced in dark souls.

It’s trash, don’t even try to say it’s playable.
