Open Market to counter Gold Sellers

Reading IMC’s statement on Trading Restrictions made me think on this topic. Tree of savior seems to be attracting many gold sellers, bringing countless bots into the game. The fact the game runs no effective counter-bot measures at the moment makes this game an ideal business for them. Such insane amount of bots in the game is extremely harmful for game servers, which cannot sustain so many bots connected to the game, hence the lag most players are experiencing.

To put in place a tax for trading has proved not an effective measure for solving the problem, since that does not prevent gold sellers and item buyers to pay said tax and keep the business running. Moreover, other players feel strongly frustrated when being requested to pay in order to be allowed to trade their fairly acquired items.

I propose to completely remove all means of 1:1 trading features from the game, and put more emphasis on an open market system:

  • Open market system would be accessible to the whole player base, so gold sellers cannot create private trade rooms for their clients.
  • Players should be allowed to put in the market up to let’s say 20 item packs for free. Having a limit of 1 item per player for free only helps to discourage players from using it.
  • Seller would set a starting price for the item he aims to sell. Each item must have a maximum price cap based on item value (number of items owned in the server, drop percentage, number of the monsters in the server dropping it, etc.).
  • Sell orders registered in a day would be announced all together at the end of the day. Auctions should be annonimous, so Gold sellers won’t be able to identify their clients. Moreover, items of the same type offered by different players would be grouped together, so the cheapest stocks would take preference over the more expensive ones.
  • Once an item is put into the market, by no means the seller would have any control over the process, so gold sellers would not have the option to selectively reject the trade when not acquired by their wished client.
  • If no player buys the item after few days, the item will be restored to the seller inventory.

By replacing the current trading system by an open market system as proposed, gold sellers won’t have any means for allocationg their services to individual clients, while fair players will still have a free option for selling their items to other players.

What do you think? Let’s discuss!

If auctioneers are able to set the starting bids, wouldn’t they be able to still move their silver across accounts?

I can see how your process can hinder the transfer of goods to the client tho.

A LARGE portion of the community hates the trade restrictions we have, you want them to put more. You just want to see the forums burn again like when they announced early access don’t you?

Auction system wont work without starting bid and instant buyout prices and if you implement those then you wont be able to solve the problem you are trying to solve.

I see your point. What about:

  • Auctioneer would set a starting price for the item he aims to sell. There should be a maximum on the price, based on item value (based on the number of items owned in the server, drop percentage, level, etc.).
  • Auctions registered in a day would be announced all together at the end of the day. Auctions should be annonimous, so Gold sellers won’t be able to identify their clients. Moreover, items of the same type offered by different players would be grouped together.

Your solution might solve the gold-seller issues, but it does so by placing even more constraints onto players.

Some of the major complaints that players have about the current restrictions are not resolved by your proposed solution:

  • you can not give an unneeded item that by chance dropped to you to a party mate that needs it more
  • you can not give silver/items to a friend to help them get started on the server
  • you can not transfer items/silver to one of your other characters
  • it would now take even longer to receive an item you bought off the AH (you would have to wait several days for the bidding to end)
  • if you really want an item, you would need to sit by the AH until the bidding ends to ensure you got the item
  • you can not give an unneeded item that by chance dropped to you to a party mate that needs it more

That is more of a problem on how item drops should be distributed among party members. There is already some suggestions in other topics on this forums.

  • it would now take even longer to receive an item you bought off the AH
(you would have to wait several days for the bidding to end)
  • if you really want an item, you would need to sit by the AH until the bidding ends to ensure you got the item

Let me update a new proposal in my opening post. What about an open market instead? That should speed up buying process, while still prevent gold-seller issues.

  • you can not give silver/items to a friend to help them get started on the server
  • you can not transfer items/silver to one of your other characters

If that is basically what we have to give for a server with no bots and gold-sellers, I’m up for it. If any, you should only be allowed to transfer silver/items to other characters in your same account.

I will release a video explaning the solution to the trading system without removing the personal trade, in fact allowing personal trade between token and non-token users.

This is one of the points that is used on my solution.

I will be releasing today a video explaning the solution to the trading system that solves all the problems below.

Not at all, i will be releasing today a video explaning the solution to the trading system that solves that issue and allow trading between players token and non-token.
