Off topic - Adding Magic block to shield

u hear it…i know some wiz player strongly will be againts this topic…what bother me is magic to OP in tos…dont mind those OP wiz out there…take example of magic atk moster.

30-50k tank is just paper when taunt 20 magic mob…while no problem dealing with p.atk mob…what the function of tank if cant tank magic…dont bring murmilo class here…i know murmilo can block magic

the point is magic just to OP because it cant be block or dodge…in PVP cleric and Wiz take all the rank because pvp favor magic class…wiz and cleric just need to use aias will give them like 50% of block when meet dex user in pvp…while p.atk class cant block single magic and just wait to die when got caught.

i know they will not do this, but i think adding function magic block to shield is needed. not only in pvp but pve also…tanking 1k magic atk from mob is bad news for tanker…at least if got block they can tank 50% of that attack…and archer or swordman have chance to block some of those OP wiz and pd magic atk just like wiz and pd using aias to block p.atk

Add magic block = add magic crit

I think magic attack is already tuned to be doing more damage on average than physical non crits. If we want to add magic crit we’ll have to lower the magic attack across the board first.

But then magic attacks will just be like another form of physical attack. That would be boring.

and thats what you guys are trying to do with this change. There is nothing wrong with magic. There is something horribly ■■■■■■■ wrong with how def is calculated. That is what needs to be changed.

What am I trying to do? I am neither supporting adding block to magic attacks nor against it. I’m just pointing out what should happen if magic attack is to be able to crit.

You do realize when R8 comes out, swordies and archers will be out dps wizzes almost all the time. I don’t see why they’d need to add this lol

this lol.

and adding to the fact that r8 shields are giving out 200-300 magic defense on top of regular high defense too if you looked at the release pictures.

I personally find that boring too that we have 2 evasions…

I still say Block should be totally changed and be a percentage damage reduction of both magic and physical attack by chance (and manual C blocking would have 100% chance to reduce x% damage in this case of course)

@joseph.murray01 I don’t rly like the way how imc “balances out” things… but I guess that’s a solution too. If wizards will have less damage than those 2 others then yeah it can make a balance…but I’m rly not sure that’s what wizards would want because that will horribly affect PvE too…IMO …but support wizards will be still welcomed in parties for sure…xD

sounds good, changing it from rate of block to blocking that much of the damage. as for wizards doing less damage, they still do it too a lot more targets and usually in a bigger area. they also have more cc and loads of assist skills to go along with it all. seem more balance, and swordies will still have to sacrifice damage or crit/evade to get that block rate.

We already have:

-8% chance to reduce damage by 50% when hit
so that’s 8% chance the 20k magic that’s gonna melt you get 10k of it blocked :stuck_out_tongue:
(does this even work with magic damage?)

Well, the big issue is swordsman like always, because everything else have something to use.

The issue here is that, when you take defense values, you lose damage, that is the logic in any RPG. And swordsman is like, destined to be fu**ed because they have the worst type of damage (physical) being dealt in the worst possible way (facetaking).

And wizards + clerics almost have no issues cause
1 - you don’t have to worry how your damage will hit, because it always will.
2 - you don’t have to worry about enemy defense, because if they invest on it, they lose the little damage they have.

Archers have efficient tools for a both satisfying PVP and PVE. They’re not too much, but is undoubtedly more than what swordsmen have.

My suggestion is to create elemental armors that blocks a specific element. I think RO had that, you could walk inside a Storm Gust without worries.

And whatever is suggested that people think is too OP for PVP, please, at least for PVE then. I don’t mind being punched out on PVP, but I want at least to resist independently magic hits from mobs.
