% of block calculation?

Anyone know how block mechanic work.
I want to know block formula.
Is it similar to dodge chance.

Thank you.

all i know is that doesn’t matter if u have 1200 or 2k block, u will still fail a lot

The formula is:

BLK = Lv/2 + CON + (0.03xLv)x2

BLK = Block
CON = Constitution
Lv = Level
x2 = Swordsman Bonus

When manually blocking an additional formula is added:

BLK = BLK + 5.5xLv

The Block Penetration formula is:

BLKBR = Lv/2 + STR

BLKBR = Block Penetration

Supposedly the BLKBR to BLK is similar to the accuracy to evasion mechanic, but I’m not too sure. So overall, it does work similarly, including magic attacks being unblockable.

Additional note, I got this information from the Mechanics.pdf so some of the information may be outdated. I took the liberty to adjust the SPR to STR in the block penetration formula.

You know that both of them gives Block Penetration right?

Yeah I read that but I want to know Supposedly the BLKBR to BLK is similar to the accuracy to evasion mechanic in sure number in formular.

There is more to the formula, but no one knows how to calculate it so far (afaik).

It is not affectec by “level penalty” when facing enemies of higher/lower level than you, but the higher level you are, higher is the value of block you need to achieve the same % you had before.

Example:
A lvl 100 player with 300 block rate will have a higher chance to block attacks than a level 280 player with the same 300 block rate, against the same enemy.

I don’ think so, they changed it a while ago. I was under the impression the tool tip has wrongly fully not been changed.

The update just says:

-Block penetration will now increase based on STR stats.

The Wikipedia page was also changed accordingly. But that statement is ambiguous enough that you could be right.

You could very well be correct, the Mechanics Manual is pretty out of date, how do you know though? I haven’t really seen any evidence confirming what you’re saying.

Someone posted a video in another topic a few days ago of someone showing it off…

Or so I think. I can’t find it now, so maybe i looked it up on youtube by myself, not sure.

It was a guy with a lvl 14 and 210ish level charactes, both around 240~260 block rate, dueling the same Miko doing bare handed attacks.
The low level character blocked over half of the attacks, while the higher one barely blocked any.

That would certainly be interesting. I hope that was just lucky blocking, because the alternative is blocking being weaker than I had thought.

I’m an SPR Chaplain with 20 STR, 212 SPR on lvl 224 with 344 Block Penetration.

They never said SPR won’t give it anymore… it could have been rly bad news for my SPR Chap…so I don’t think they would ever do that…but who knows…maybe they will kill my char off sooner or later…X)

Oh okay, well there you go. I wish IMC would go into more detail with the updates with things like formulas. The way I interpreted the update, was “now STR is the block penetration stat” because a class that utilised STR and SPR would essentially render blocking useless because they would have such high block penetration. But depending on the blocking penetration to blocking, maybe it would just be a good counter.
