Ive had the same experience 220ms is the best ive got with battleping
even then though it jumps upto 400ms the real problem is the inconsistent connection, i often freeze for 2-3 seconds and then dont even cast my boomtrap which usually results in an instant death.

Even if it looks like ive got away i get bombarded with red digits…followed by death

TLDR - Inconsistent connection results in upto 2-3 second lag resulting in death / or a very poor gaming experience  i really cant recommend this game to any oceanic player

Oh god please no… I mean i live in Australia ( Part of Oceania ), however we don’t have the playerbase, when IMC showed that rather outdated pie chat Oceanic was only 3% of the population, 3%! .

Sure it might have gotten a bigger % value now with f2p and all, but we seriously lack numbers, as with every other mmo out there…

If we had our own regional server, the network lagg within Australia would be bad anyway and then those from outside would have terrible performance… it’s just the way how the network is made up.

Im very happy to be able to play the SEA Servers @ ~130-160ms with a private VPN, without it, would be like 250+… but that’s a given from Australia…

I get a very consistent 180ms (in game ping command) to SEA servers which is fine. Don’t see much point in an Oceanic server.

If you have a bad connection then it’s probably your ISP routing. I’d recommend using a VPN to sort out your routing issues.

we only lack numbers on games with 200+ ping… fact.

we have a higher percentile of PAYING customers… fact

we dont get ~130-160ms on sea severs? care to tell us the name of your secret private vpn? and where in aus you are located?

TLDR- Even with a vpn i cant play this game?

Im playing for Aus WA, not having any issues at all. the /ping command is pulling back incorrect latency results so i wouldnt use that as a reliable source of testing.

Our correct ping should be around 80-120. The SEA servers are based in the same location as the BF4 servers and thus your lines should be experiencing the same latency to that game aswell.

Try closing down any other programs you may have open, including family computers who may be using P2P programs or anyone who is streaming at 720p-1080p online. This will mitigate all of the possible bandwidth sinks.

If you’re on an ADSL connection (copper lines) you will experience congestion from 5pm onwards, its just how internet works, but if you’re on Cable, NBN or VDSL you should be fine due to these being fibre coax.

Try calling your ISP and ask them what your ā€œSync Speedā€ is. Post it here and ill be able to help out as much as i can in terms of reducing latency. Don’t forget to post your ISP

Games with high ping? I’ll just say any game hosted outside au past Singapore and west coast USA, you then hit 200+ms almost always… And there is a metric tone of games…

My ping is far from magical just optimized from my location, based in rural NSW, yes not a city… So its even worse pings… I actually use a proper VPN service not some overloaded ping/game/tunnel service, I pay a premium but I also use it for work. I use Helstra … Because I have no other choice cause I’m rural.

Most importantly I research my network and trace routes cause I give a damn about latency, most give up because its too hard…

No point we don’t have the playerbase…

I ping 90-100 from Melbourne to SEA using a vpn and thats good I think.

sorry for being noob but what is vpn? lol is that like isp?? i’m on NBN connection but still got high ping :frowning: i’m in QLD area

can u pls tell me what vpn do you use? thanks

A VPN is a type of proxy connection in which traffic is passed through (tunneling) from point to point via an intermediate machine (router) to hide the origin of the request, and to make the request seem as if it originated from the router machine and not the end-user.

[Server] <-> [VPN [router]]{Encrypted} <-> [User]

Alongside privacy useage, VPNs can be used to send traffic over different routes that may have better connection speeds than those a normal user may be able to achieve without one.

No VPN : Server <-> [Normal Hop] <-> [Slow Hop] <-> [Slow Hop] <-> [User]

VPN : Server <-> [Normal Hop] <-> [Normal Hop] <-> [Slow Hop] <-> [VPN] <-> [User]

(The above is not usually what happens either, and more often than not, using a VPN will make your connection slower as communication is encrypted and decrypted as well as having to transverse hops to the VPN that a normal connection that a normal connection would not have.)

Often more than not, with the VPN expericne ive had with various providers before getting a private one, most of time 75%> & over from my location ( rural btw ) ping has always been reduced either by 50ms ~ 200ms… just simply because routing is joke here… but aswell this may not be the case with countries with awesome routing…

awesome, hmm but i think vpn might be illegal tho?
