Just an update on this issue. If you’re using the normal Unifi(residential version), you will be affected by this. Business/etc(the one with fixed IP) will not have a problem, only the residential will have this issue due to dynamic IP.
Reason for this issue? Turns out the route to SG is under maintenance, and since it is not a popular route(as I said on previous comment), TM did not bother to inform its users but to just use the long route(which is why we’re getting MY>france/uk/etc>SG).
ETA on fix for this issue? By the end of this month. So what I would suggest you guys to do is to call TM and make a report on this matter, then show them screenshot of the pingplotter and point out on the location of hop 5-10 of that test and how absurd the latency you’re getting. Get the report number(make sure to keep this) and demand for rebate AFTER they fix the issue.
What to do during the down time? There’s really nothing you can do but try out on free VPNs.
p/s: the technician told me if I want to completely avoid this problem is by getting dynamic IP(business model), which also means I have to pay RM 200 on top of what I’m paying right now which is total bullshit. Might as well just get VPN for only RM 20 per month everytime this issue occurs.
