Not optimal but never useless

Hi, I just reached 280 today. My path is Pyro - Linker - Thauma - Chrono 3. I know everyone prefers Linker 2s - Chrono 3s, Cryo 3 - Chrono 3s. And this has made think of rerolling many times in the past. However seeing my character now. Walking around with 65k HP via Transpose, getting in between mobs and linking stuff. I am happy.

So to everyone who has been called out for their builds, just play happily along with the build you prefer. You may not be optimal but you are definitely not worthless. <3

Grats!

There are lots of folks who have hit 280 with ā€œsub-optimalā€ builds now. It’s possible, just can be harder. And really, sub-optimal builds are purely subjective. They may also be better for certain content uses than ā€œoptimalā€ builds. You also have to remember that as the game grows, rebalancing will occur, nerfs, buffs, etc.

Should just play what you have fun with.

Exactly, with so many choices available people should not be afraid to diversify themselves and offer something new to the game.

for me…

An optimal build is the build that makes you happy

Yay! Love this =D

As long as someone uses abit of logic, their build wont be that bad!
For some reason, I was doing a dungeon with someone with only c1 every class. I didn’t find the urge to not what to party that person. Everyone is useful as long as they know how to play their character ^^~

Thank you, I think it was also a part of me wanting to hear from people about this issue of optimal vs sub-optimal. Some sort of assurance from people who loves their characters no matter what.

It’s not all the time about what your circles can do together. But what you can do with the circles individually.

Sorry to rain down on your parade, but linker (even 1 circle) is in demand. Chrono 3 hugely in demand. Linker 1, Chrono 3 is already an incredible build.

While I appreciate the thread, don’t post one of the best build variants in the game, not to mention the most looked for in LFM’s (Chrono 3) and say it’s a ā€˜ā€˜sub-optimal build’’

Oh, sorry man, didn’t mean to pose and trigger you in any way :frowning:

I didn’t know about that. I am actually surprised to hear it now.
Since I’ve been called out for it, bec. it’s only circle 1.

It’s nothing about posing. But it really kills your argument, if you use one of the best builds as an example how ā€˜ā€˜you dont need an optimal build at all’’.
Getting to 280 is all about group grinding, and being a Chrono 3 ensures a spot in any party. All of the rest is a bonus, and THM/LNK are great bonusses indeed, even if 1 circle.

But man, I never new it’s one of the best builds. And up until now I have come to believe that it was sub-optimal bec. a lot of people are all about cryo3 - chrono3.

Thanks for informing me about this tho. I guess I should just speak as a supporter of suboptimals rather than speaking as one.

When you realize machinegun archers will throw themselves into you with enchant fire and quicken

Not optimal? This is one of the most optimal support wiz build with still abit some dps for questing alone. My friend actually re-rolled his first wiz and went for this exact build.

Reason,

Lv5 Joint Penalty’s skill point investment is very efficient because you can easily push the targets to 6 with just Divine Might or if you luckily got Joint Penalty +1 gem. Lv10 JP just adds 3 more targets for 5 skill pts, not to mention, you need Divine Might and +1 gem to push it to 9 targets making it an unoptimized choice.

Lv5 Swell Left-arm is one of the best buffs in-game and scales way too good for Lv280 cap. Take Khasti Bow for example. You need to +15 it for it to give an additional 200 atk. Meanwhile Lv5 Swell Left-arm gives 218 atk with max attributes. Leveling it further by taking higher Thauma circles isn’t worth it means you took another optimal choice. Giving everyone a +15 weapon buff is extremely good.

With Chrono C3, you’ll be able to easily recast your Flame Ground and chain another set of mobs using Pass. I seriously don’t see this build as not optimal.

I’m goin’ in this path.

Wiz > pyro > linker > chrono > thauma c3
Stat build int/spr.

Any thoughts?

May I ask what stat did you focus on for this builds? was it full INT or CON?

IMPRESSIVE! :baby_chick:

Chrono3 in itself is sooo good already and a rank in Linker makes it even better. Anything else inbetween is up to you.

Good luck to my Sword3 Cata3 Goon road! XD

Hi, if you are asking me. Then I went full INT. Thus I enjoy being around clerics.

:frowning: cataphracts are the only ones that makes me doubt the power of Haste

Cool!

Currently I’m deciding to make a Cleric C3, overkill but I like the idea of a carpet of heals, not sure what to pick for next raks tho, was thinking Priest C3 and then PD for full heals but since I’d most likely go for a full int (100 con) build so stone skin won’t probably be useful, but overall I’d have a lot of healing which is what I like the most, healing people xD.

I haven’t seen one yet, but how fast is a Cata3 with max Trot on and buffed with max Haste? XD
