North America Unite!

I haven’t checked this since the game opened up, but thank you for the wonderful exchange, lol. If you didn’t post the chart and say those things I would have. 'Preciate it.

You realise most of Europe speaks/types English to some degree right.

Fun fact, English was invented in Europe.

Most Swedish & Norwegians probably speak better English than Americans. An I say that as a British guy knowing a lot speak better English than me.

dude. most people know and can understand english. some may not be able to construct perfect grammar but still understandable to some degree.

I’m aware of the UK speaking English. I wrote this in reference to South America, in which there are several countries that speak languages other than English, but thank you for the reminder.

“Most people know and can understand English”

have you guys even read half the posts on this forum? lmao

The mean the 99.9% of them that happen to be in English?

Or the 20% of them that happen to be in really bad English?

Because the really bad English posts aren’t necessarily from none English speaking countries.

Most people actually speak other languages, btw. Namely: Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. South America also has a large population that speaks Portuguese. English is actually currently only the third most spoken language. Sigh… Look at the overall English level of western European countries. Plenty don’t have English as their first language.

Most speak it pretty well. More so in the MMORPG online community.

I also quite clearly said, “most of Europe speaks/types English to some degree right”. Some degree being the optimal word.

Lol, sorry about bringing up language in the OP. I took it out, so the original purpose of this post should be clean-cut now.

dude im chinese and me and pretty much everyone else i know speak perfectly fine english. Please dont discriminate, this is a global server … if you dont want to interact with people from other countries make an NA guild or smt…

In almost every thread there is a group of people who make posts out of anger over misinterpretations of subject and predicate. A large portion of Tree of Savior’s International population can’t speak more than basic English. They can’t even be trolled because they don’t understand the sarcasm and intent behind trolling, because it’s a linguistic ability.

If you played in the close betas, you would also know just how many people are hiding from the forums because they can’t speak a word of English, and probably only got in because of a translation or a friend who does.

As far as “Western Europe” goes, even if you add that to the entire population of EN users, it would be wrong to add it, as not everyone in Western Europe is fluent, we’re still a minority.

Now,
If I actually CARED about all these things, I would have left a long time ago. I’m used to dealing with friends from overseas having broken English, so it’s not like it’s something that makes it unplayable. Trying to say they’re not outnumbering us is the only problem I really have. I know, technically they can speak English, maybe at a high school level, but English isn’t their first language, and in some countries the language barrier is much thicker.

Thank you for the input! My original intent wasn’t to discriminate, so I appreciate you mentioning it.

I actually put 140 hours into the beta thanks. Not sure why you’re showing me a chart that has nothing to do with the discussion though.

I never made any mention of Latin America, South East Asia or Russia in any of my comments.

I don’t remember ever claiming the majority of ToS users speak fluent English. Just pointing out at least a sizable percentage outside of North America can.

Is English your first language? Because anyone who read the thread, and then my post, would realize why that chart is relevant. c:

In simpler terms: everything that is outside North America = Not North America

“at least a sizable percentage outside of North America” would be including every continent that is not North America. That means Latin America, SEA, Russia, etc. Omitting those regions is fallacious.

We’re you born an ass, or do you just choose to act like one?

A sizable portion included the UK, Australia, Scandinavian Region & Germany.

Most of the populations from those countries speak very fluent English. Especially in the MMORPG community.

Yes, and that’s still not “every nation outside of North America”. Why are you dodging this so much, when the very target of the topic is North Americans? Of course I’m going to use snide behaviour when you’re being this way. North Americans are a minority compared to the collective population of every player outside of it. According to that graph, taken directly from IMC’s front page post, we only make up about 30% of the population. The point of the thread is to find more fluent English speakers.

Not really sure why that’s hard to interpret, or what is making you so upset.

I’m fairly sure I am a walking sphincter, thank you. You are communing with a gaping butt-hole on two legs. Is there anything else you would like to know?
