None Pelt or Rod Murmillo?

Hi I was just wondering if theres any way I can build a Murmillo forgoing Pelt and Rodelero. I just think the skills and looks of it are soooo cool, but I highly dislike Pelt and Rodelero and wanted to make something different.

Was thinking of something with Doppel to get those DOV stacks and make the Murmillo skills do decent damage.

Let me know if you have any ideas!

I haven’t looked too much into it but maybe:

SW1>Pelt1>Hop3>Dop1>Shin1>Murm1
or
SW1>Pelt1>Hop3>Dop2>Murm1
or
SW2>Hop3>Dop2>Murm1
or
SW2>Hop3>Dop1>Shin1>Murm1

I know what you said about Peltasta, but Swash is still worth it and you’ll fly past that level anyway. If you absolutely can’t take Peltasta, maybe SW2 for extra Pain Barrier and Restrain. The reason for Hoplite is how well it works with a shield, a one handed spear does some damage, especially with Stabbing, Spear Lunge and Spear Throw. Dop1 or Dop2 for Deeds of Valour and Cyclone, or Shinobi because it works with everything.

what queue said honestly, hoplite rodelero and peltasta are the best classes to build with murmilo
if you won’t pick any of these 3, i wouldn’t go murmilo.

Really appreciate the help! Im liking the idea of building Hop into Doppel 2. That sounds like it could be really fun with 10 stacks of DOV into Cyclone and when Cyclone is down you can spam out the murmillo skills that have fairly decent base damage and fill in with Hop.

I think I might give the second one a try! Let’s see how this plays out and how fun it is!

Thanks again!

not mocking down the idea, just gonna say that hop 3 dop 1 shinobi murmilo is going to be stronger than that, bunshin can clone synchro thrusting, which is 500% damage and thrusting gets an additional 300% damage from murmilo and it also gets stronger the stronger your shield is so if you transcend your shield your synchro will wreck stuff
just something to point in mind
keep in mind that dop c2 skills like redel and zucken require a 2h sword so if you DO go doppel c2 only lvl DoV, Cyclone and probably DPE or 1 of the other skills.

You’re welcome. I’m always happy to have another Hoplite.

Maybe u can try sw3>barb3>cors1>murmil,to my surprise, barb pouncing still work quite well in PvP. This kind of build is for offensive type murmil, but yeah,rod-murmil is still the better route. but why should we build it if we don’t like it right?

Ill go for sw3 hop3 corsair?? Murmillo. Just to avoid pel and rod.

Hoplite and Shinobi are the best options for not going the Pelt/Rod route, but you do miss out on either utility or damage by not picking up those classes. It’s easy to compensate for damage with Hop/Shinobi combos, but missing out on max taunt and armor break IMO is not very desirable.

With the enormous modifiers Murmillo provides, STR becomes enormously important actually, especially when you consider Swordsman’s 1.3x STR->Attack conversion rate and the additional 10% buff at R8.

This is of course assuming you’re going to be using the obvious PeltRode build to take advantage of those modifiers to begin with. Since Pelt and Rode skills have relatively low base damage you’d need a ton of inherent attack to get to the point where DEX is more valuable.Otherwise I don’t really see why you’d bother playing Murmillo, Dragoon2 will offer you wayyyyy more damage with any other build.

Of course, you’ll want as much crit rate as you can reasonably attain, but it’ll probably come primarily from gear. We’re looking at the difference between 70k damage umbo blows with occasional 105k crits with a STR build vs. 100% critrate Scutum Hit doing 47k damage with a DEX build
Real ?

i wouldnt ditch rod3 though, it really enhances murm damage and vice versa, i tried experimenting though. I went hl3>rod3, not yet a murm though but i do have a murm

you can still experiment imo. You would have to wait for what the higher ranks of murm has to offer though

This. You definitely want some kind of PVP build if you want a Murmillo without Pelt/Rode, because your raw damage output will never compare. Murmillo with the optimal Pelt/Rode build isn’t a super OP unstopapble force, so removing a huge chunk of your damage is obviously going to be detrimental for PVE.
