Taiwan & Hong Kong players would like to play on international server!

Letter to IMC:

Dear IMC Games,

The Traditional Chinese community is also very excited about the release of Tree of Savior, but there are some concerns that we would like to bring to your attention.

Recently, there are rumors coming from within the industry regarding TOS getting a Traditional Chinese publisher. As the steam version of TOS will be IP blocked and will not provide language packs for countries with a publisher, our community is very concerned on the negative impacts.

First of all, most Traditional Chinese players (Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau) are heavily disappointed with most Traditional Chinese publishers, and would much prefer IMC games to self publish or even just allow us to access to International TOS with a Traditional Chinese language pack.

OMG(MacroWell OMG Digital Entertainment)is rumored as the publisher of Traditional Chinese version of TOS. It is the worst publisher among all the Taiwan & Hong Kong publishers with a track record of ruining many online games, recent example being TERA Taiwan. As a result, OMG has been blacklisted by many players.

SMS verification is required for liking the post, which means that there are at least 8901 real players blacklisting OMG. And the number is still increasing.

OMG promised that the settings of TERA TW would be completely based on the Korean version and soon started selling pre-order packs with subscriptions up to 2 years. It was priced at NT$6000 (~USD$ 200) which no other online game has asked for such a ridiculous amount upfront.

Soon after launch, players discovered the settings are nowhere close to the Korean version once you hit higher levels and many players started to quit. Only 8 months after launch, OMG had to introduce Free To Play servers as the population plummeted.

Here are SOME of the unreasonable changes in TERA TW:
-The required EXP of leveling is much higher than the KR version
(10 times for PTP server and 20 times for FTP server)
-Most of the costumes and dyes are removed and being sold in the cash shop instead
-Amount of materials required for crafting is increased by 4~5 times
-NPC no longer sell skill books and players need to grind them
-The difficulty of field BOSS are higher with lower drop rate
and the list goes on

All in all, OMG made the game extremely difficult in hopes to maximize their profit, but only lead to the death of TERA.

On a side note, just about a month ago, OMG announced “TERA The NEXT”. Which is a “NEW” TERA server with Korean server settings! Yup, they are trying to sell us something that should have been there in the first place. What’s even more outrageous is that the old servers are getting abandoned. No more patches will be coming, and players are also unable to transfer their existing characters to the new server, completely disrespecting players.

News about OMG disrespecting players:

Old players being treated rudely on official facebook

This is not the first case that Traditional Chinese publishers having horrid management. Almost all of them aim for short-term revenue. Problems such as bots, cheats and RMT never gets resolved, not to mention how slow they are getting new patches and the frequent extension of maintenance downtime.

For the best interest of TOS and all the players, we hope IMC can think twice before signing with any Taiwan publisher. Allowing access to the global version of TOS with Traditional Chinese language pack will be a better option.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best Regards,
On behalf of Traditional Chinese players

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I heard China filters the contents that their people get. Does that include HK? Also, (since I cannot read what’s posted on the page) I’m wondering why so much hate is thrown towards Taiwanese Game Publishers. Are they really that bad?

Well, after reading the letter, and later confirming what OP said, I can say for sure that those bastard do not even think of the long run, only on-launch profit… The worst among the worst publishers.

No, it does not include Hong Kong. Hong Kong has different law and gov.

Hong Kong use Traditional Chinese as their written language as well as Taiwan.
And Taiwan publishers have been provided service in Hong Kong since the exists of online gaming.
So, Taiwan and Hong Kong will usually bound together in localization.

You can open the letter in a new page for clear image, maybe i should post the text directly

Yeah. I agree that Taiwan / Hong Kong publishers are pretty bad up there. I pray that ToS will be self publish!

Hope IMC Gamer can take a great point on this issue. Publisher in Taiwan is really bad for game experience.Worst of all, they always destroy the game by making a lot of restriction. They only care about how to make money in a short time, but don’t care how to operate the game for a long time.

Guys you can’t image how Taiwanese publishers destroy an online game to such terrible degree!
We, Taiwanese players, have been treated unfairly for a long time, like a crowd of game slaves!
For goodness sake, DONNOT let those dammit Taiwanese publishers take charge of this good game…
Only STEAM version for us,hopefully, then that’s enough. Thank you imcGames.

Sorry for my poor Enlish…

Highly agreed that as a TW player, everything we get from local publisher(distributor) is very bad. In my aspect, I would much prefer to play ToS via steam, a much more reliable platform to build and keep friendship, and enjoy gaming without worring someday it might be suddenly closed due to unreasonable issues from local publisher, not even wanna mentioned how much money I paid and they shut down the service, and game crashing all the time.

Well, IMC should look for good publishers. Trust me you wont like to play with ~300 ping in US servers. But if you are willing to do so you should be able to do it without any restrictions.
