I was playing a few minutes and suddenly got disconnected, i tried validating my local files before re entering
but as soon as the game tries to download the usual files needing verification i got this error and the game won’t download the files

It’s one of the game’s older features.
You either wait or open up a VPN until your internet is able to connect to TOS updater.
kinda happens randomly and restores back to normal randomly, sorry, I’m not sure of the cause either, I just have VPN ready for it when it happens.

Happens to me every time there’s a Steam update pending. Disable Steam auto-update, or reboot your computer (Steam will update, then ToS will be playable again).
