No idea of how to build a swordman

What would you guys recommend for a fencer or dragoon that has a decent amount of defenses? I want to play either one of dragoon or fencer, but not sure how to go about it. Also Id like to have enough defense to take a bit of damage without dying.

what do yuiuy mean by decent ammout? surviving dps or tanker?

[skyliner] is taking a hit from the nerf bat with a 15 sec CD based on datamined information. I suggest following that information if you want to pursue highlander.

True Swordy has no place in this game

a. Being tanker = can’t tank magic ( rodelero only for 10s ) linker can tank better, extra damage, also hangman’s knot make mobs bind, while Swordy still getting hit when tank-ing.

b. Being DPS = alot buff got so many risk

  1. Gungho Decrease Def in flat number
  2. Deeds of Valor Decrease Def in percentage !!
  3. Finestra Decrease evasion
  4. Bunshin no Jutsu is the worst, reduced evasion, defend, double / triple damage taken.
  5. Many more

c. Being support ? just go to Hell :smile:

Maybe they’re saving an anti-magic-class for R8-R10

so you want to say that swordmen suck? Well i will play as a pure crafting alchemist (going for rank 3 when released),but… I will break this illusion of yours!

one of the many skills to go medieval on mages asses, also mages cant defend from phisical damage.

even cleric with 100++def still get hit like truck while fighting mele monster

how much int reduced by crown exactly ?
also the skill has 0 AOE ratio, normally you just hit 3 from 10 monsters ( swash buckling level 5 - 10 monsters ). Still die tough

Why wizard need physical def dude ? while hangman’s knot make the monsters can’t move, also wizard skill is magic range dude :wink:

Have you play the game? Swordmand is not a weak class at all. Actually they got overkill way more frequently than mages, they burst is pretty good. I don’t really like the class because it doesn’t fit my style, but call them weak is a great mistake.

Swordsman classes do lots more damage than any mage, believe me I played on cbt1 and cbt 2, even if you make a dps mage foucused on,y on int 9wich is really stupid beacuse youll spend 20 min hunting and 10 recovering sp) you will still deal less single traget damage then a higlander, barbarian or any dps focused swordsman.

unless you go to circle 3 linker hangman knot time will be lower tahn the cooldwon and youll need lots of sp to keep it up, this skill is supposed to be used to with joint penalty to put enemies togeter before a aoe atack for massive damage. phisical link divides the damage based on numbers and evberyone takes equal damage so linking a tank makes lots of difference.

Tankers in tos have some of the best sible target CC skills, tghe only non warrior class that can stunlock is psy, also rodelero and peltasta can get the block attribute and it can block non aoe spells (can block line ones like ice pike), only the passive the shiled block cant stop spells.

and by last, the best long duration attribute and weapon damage buffs are from squire.

i’m playing at kOBT, and stop after they buffed archer. i’m waiting TOS in my country.

The reason Wizard better tanker than warrior ( all on paper based Tosbase.com )

  • When Warrior tank, mobs still hit - Wizard don’t
    Why ? coz wizard has many cc and joint penalty make single target skill into AOE ( i think they still not change it, but the 2x damage has been removed CMIIW )
    Joint penalty - hangman knot = mobs bind, good for mele mobs
    for magic mobs = Joint penalty - CC skills ( Sleep 7s 5attack threshold )
    if taken cyro3, u’ll have many Freeze CC, also +1 tank skill Frost pillar.

  • While Tanking Wizard provide many bonus for DPS
    Joint penalty 15s CD, hangman 10s CD - Swash buckling 20s CD
    Joint penalty has 50% damage on lighting, poison, earth property
    Hangman has 100% add damage magic attack ( your magic attack not skill magic damage ) also -5 AOE Defense ratio to mobs

iTOS data mining has different CD, not confirmed yet still not OBT

Now let’s see warrior

Warrior doesn’t have CC skills that make mobs can’t hit ? they do have
But almost all of their CC skills will ruin the tank-ed Mobs coz their most their CC are Knockback or Knockdown
AFAIK usefull CC on tanking Umbo Blow (Knockdown attribute off ), Shield Shoving, Targe Smash.
Umbo Blow AOE Ratio 6 3s stun - but wait only 25% chance
Shield Shoving - idk how exactly this skill work but seems good 1.5s cant act but wait has no AOE ratio, could be single target. idk too :smile:
Targe smash - Nah this skill good AOE 7, 3s blind ( how exactly blind work ? ) 3 overheat 30s CD

Swash buckling attribute only for warrior doesn’t help party while wizard attribute help party alot.
the last Swash buckling attribute you mention doesn’t exist or still not implement

For langort attribute only work for mele attack, no need CC on mele mobs.
Maybe at Earth Tower needed.
Warrior better at max monster you can taunt, just need pelasta 1 for 10mobs, while need Linker c2 for 8mobs

and i Love the way you thinking, give me some advices.
I’ve OP Cleric build already but i don’t like cleric gameplay, spam skill on ground so boring.
I’m planning to make warrior, that’s why i talking about Warrior weakness so can cover it, and with your many knowledges about warrior i think you planning make warrior too.

Both in PVE & PVP mele attack can be prevent easily, but magic not.
Magic class can prevent Mele class with block, but mele class can’t prevent magic class.

Also in swordy it’s getting worse.
How to prevent mele class / attack.

  1. Going full con / Dex ( con for magic class, dex for archer ) hybrid just enough
  2. Priest : Block ( Stone skin +400 block + spr x 4 ) Decent duration & CD
  3. Archer : Evasion ( Evasion 100% ) Short duration Long CD
  4. Warrior : Block ( High guard +240 block, -50% attack, -100 Crit rate ) Decent duration & CD

Also take note, for activating Block you must use shield so you sacrifice your attack, while Priest stone skin doesn’t need shield so do archer evasion doesn’t required stance.
Warrior do have extra Block buff, skill attribute pelasta 25% block when using shield, also finestra 30% block ( Hop c3 ), but like i said above, can’t prevent magic.

Stat calculator doesn’t provide block info, so still need learning.

We are not talking about the exp, we are talking about the fact that when you do twice the damage you need to kill a mob you get an overkill, which mean that swordman are doing a better damage over single targets.

Now yeah, in pvp swordmans and archers look a bit bad right now since you can prevent his damage way eassier than Magic Damage, but how long do you think it will stay like that? Magic Classes are beeing nerfed and under your logic Cleric class is the only available class (Check top 50, it mostly made by Clerics) but even with that you can see some Dragons and Cannoners in the very beggining of the top.

Your comments look like something based in readding and watching videos, instead of something based in game play experiencie.

actually many wizard spells can be countered or avoided, but as a wizard i would be really stupid by telling how my clas or other builds skills can be countered, youll need to discover by yourself.
also, there are warrior skills that silence, peltasta is a antimage tanker full of maguc counters, look at peltasta ettributes and see what happen if nyou jit his shield. BTW the shild cant block magic is only with th passive block, bith peltasta and rodelero have an active block attribute, they press c and try to block, if the timing is right they will always block. Unless the weapon or skill has a block penetrationor the damage is too supreior for the block, but mages strongest attacks usually are aoe and dong deal too much damage to a single target. just take care with duelist mages or knight slayer (those names are used on some mmos for mages focused on powerfull single target spells and anti tanker/warrior mages) I actually play as a duelist mage.

shields make you los attack capability? sorry, have you actually looked for the decent shirlds on tos? You have much to learn young padawan.

use any shield skill with those and the enemy will receive elemental damage, bolck tmelle and ranged attacks the same happens. there is no weak or useless class in toss all can be overpowered if used and built the right way.

Ive only put the damage shields, some shilds have ridiculous defense buffs or properties, but tere are too many of tem for me to post.

believe me as a wizard i know how I can be caountered, i did hours of research on many thinkg aboit tos and tought some friends of mine thztll play with me how to counter lots of wiz skills… guess what, Im the only wiz in the group.
