Hi,
I played the ToS with gamepad. The ALT button in the keyboard is to make the person stationary and is very important especially for archer and magic who rely on the range attack. However there is no similar button assigned in the gamepad.
By default, it should be R3, clicking in the right analog stick.
Edit: actually, what that does is just switch target, so yeah, ALT is missing
