may i request for the next episode to cover each job’s etymology/source/story in real life? especially the ones with uncommon english name, like reiter, mergen, sadhu, doppelero etc

i think it is safe to say that almost all job in ToS are based on real life job, except any of wizard class :stuck_out_tongue:
@unicorntheshiny: so dual wielding musketeer job’s chance at R9-10 is low.

Yup I do know a bit of German but there are backgrounds to talk about those names. Specially the Doppelsöldner which is a volunteer front line warrior that would be payed double hence the name Doppel (Double) Söldner (Sold, meaning pay).

As you can see I already started research on the subject and am compiling the relevant historical facts about each class with different names to write a script! Hopefully it’ll be fun and interesting to watch. :3

The only one I’m having trouble finding things about is the Wugushi. I’m trying many languages but I suspect it is Japanese. Problem is, Wugu has no translation in japanese (Even thou Gu can mean Poison), none that I could find, Shi can mean death but can also mean the number 4. Japanese people are very superstitious so they almost never use Shi as a ways to count the number 4 they use Yon.

My guess is that Wugushi means something around the lines of Slow Death or Poisonous Death or something but I have to find the correct translation to Wugu first.

wugushi is a chinese word. Even jincan gu, wugong gu and zhen du all are chinese words.

i am not expert at chinese but i think
淫wƫ: witchcraft
蛊 ɡǔ: poison
枈shi: master/expert/teacher.

Well, Japanese shares a lot of similarities with Chinese, kanji-wise. Gu is poison in both languages for example but Wu does not exist. I’ll have to look it up to see if there was actual historical usage of the word Wugushi or if it’s just a Chinese word used to make the class sound cool.

I think Poison “Witch/Wizard/Sorcerer” Master (CH) / Poisonous Death (JP) are both valid. But Poison Master fits the “class” role a lot better.

So yeah I guess we found out where it’s from. Cause “Wu” doesn’t exist in the Japanese language anymore. They don’t have a character to represent it unless it’s a kanji. You’d write Wugushi in katakana with “U” like this: りグシ。

It’ll be done next week, this week I had kendo and my body was utterly destroyed in the process.

Next week I’ll basically finish it up and upload it. Hopefully before Thursday.
