Streltsy (Russian: стрельцы́; IPA: [strʲɪlʲˈt͡sɨ]; En. shooters; sg. стреле́ц IPA: [strʲɪˈlʲet͡s]) were the units of Russian guardsmen from the 16th to the early 18th centuries, armed with firearms. They are also collectively known as Marksman Troops[citation needed] (стрелецкое войско). These standing forces reinforced the mounted nobility militia (поместное войско, pomestnoe vojsko or Landed Army) mobilized during wartime.
Strelets is basically a swordsman rank8 class that can equip muskets as a subweapon. The idea is to start off at rank8 right after corsair’s Pistol Shot on rank7 and bring even more gun shooting skills to swordsman tree. Very similar to how Hakka picked off after Rogue.
Actual Streltsy used sabers, halberds (which they also used to aim and fire their guns as shown above) and spears together with firearms, so the class should have some synergy with spear classes at least.
In a game that uses non-standard and history-based classes, I think this will be a fine addition. It will also play nicely with Cor3 builds, creating a new niche for “gunner swordsmen”.
