New guy coming in! Got a few questions

I’m 100% new to the game enjoying it so far. I understand the core of the game, it’s supposed to be like ragnarok online and the like.

I only have a lil issue. The game seems quite low pop, but what really unnerves me is the possibility of this ending up as a solo grind game of sorts once I get to high level.

I’m not gonna play a solo mmorpg you kno.

So what I’m trying to ask is if I’m going to make any friends or do any group content in this game at all.

Also I see this game encourages alts a lot but I’d much rather focus on one character.

Am I gonna run out of things to do with my main char daily? Because that would really suck.

I think there are many things to do each day, I just feel there are tons of other things like gimmick games that used to give useful things but now are just for the fun. Another thing, you can reach higher levels quite easily comparison what it used to be. That is nice to have a lot of skills but I think it is nice to see the quests for the story

this game is a never ending roll better rng gear, you’ll never run out.

Yes, to tell you the truth, the game is mostly solo.

Even the map where you will farm (HG340) encourages solo. You don’t want to share drops there, trust me, unless it’s your group of friends and you’ve talked about sharing.
^ eventually you’ll slowly get mad at it too, you’ll eat your token trade counts as you share your things.

Non solo activities include:
Dungeons, CM, Earth Tower, Raid.

Saalus too, but sometimes it’s faster to do it solo when you’re playing on a dead server with long queue.

For me, well the game is dying… for most of the players i started with, the game’s dead. There hasn’t been any meaningful development announcements or plans imo to make me feel like I’d want to continue playing.
Most of the real grinding got killed by how easy they made leveling up, it used to be better. There’s no real feeling of end game content when you do max level.
It’s pretty unbalanced still in terms of pvp and pve for the classes.
No real need to try getting the absolute best gear ever since after a certain amount of gear some class builds can solo almost everything which gets boring.
I hate having/making alts, I’ve been waiting so long for the game to get better and got so bored that I have like 14 characters now.

I don’t know… guess I’m still waiting for the game to live up to it’s potential…

So group grinding is hardly a thing huh?

I might be slightly bummered.

So you basically do stuff solo and then party up to do a few things everyday, is that right?

How about the social aspect, is there any to this game? I mean if not group grind I don’t guess you spend much quality time with other people.

Group grinding was…actually a thing on rank 7 and when rank 8 was released.

It was fun infact, a little chat here and there while grinding, and more classes where useful.

Right now, better grind solo if you’re grinding HG. If you want to party up, make sure you know who you are partying with to share drops properly.

Guilds I suppose, people still party up to find world bosses real quick and it’s faster to do it with people you know, so you gotta join one.

Which server are you on, by the way? I could recommend you to a guild if you’re in Telsiai.

Oh and as I’ve mentioned earlier, Earth Tower. try finding a static group to do it.

If you are the type that loves to break challenges and achievements, scout every map to obtain collection box then hunt for the required items to complete them. Achievement progress is a side content in game which is interesting for when you have nothing left to do.

As someone who never played RO before, i always think ToS is an individual game with its own pros and cons. At least you can enjoy the game as it is rather than keep comparing it with the old RO and make yourself disappointed.

Of course you need to have friends, join a guild, talk to them in game and on Discord, take activities with them, etc. Those things will keep you hyped long enough. In every online game you come for the features but stay for the people.

It all depends on the server where you’re playing.

I’ve been leveling a new character to become Nak Muay and I had no trouble doing it. They buffed the exp from field mobs quite a lot, so many people are forming grinding parties again (Tenet Garden, Demon Prison, Alemeth Forest, Cranto Coast, Kalejimas Visiting Room, Timerys Temple, Nobreer Forest, Sausys Room 9, lvl 340 Hunting Grounds…) because some dungeons aren’t even worth the wait in the queue and the EXP isn’t that amazing (personally, I think it’s more fun to grind than doing braindead dungeon runs; I wish they reworked them to raid dungeons like Former Fantasy Library and First Shelter and changed how drops there work AGAIN).

The majority of players is high lvl (with multiple characters, that is), so you’ll never have problems finding people to do the group content (Challenge Mode, First Shelter raid, Earth Tower, Saalus missions, etc.). However, there’s a lot (A LOT) of item grinding in this game, and it’s better to do that solo with a build suited to specifically farming what you want to farm.

If you are on Klaipeda server, you can always try seeing if I’m online. I have characters around 120 or so. It doesn’t take long to get there and I’m very very very slowly grinding the story/side quests on the maps on one of them. Guilds help things. The upcoming server merge should help even out the population too. There’s people around. It’s just a lot of them are fairly high levels compared to someone just starting out.

The game is fun in small doses and if you take it for what it is. I’ve played since the early stages of testing and still play a few times a week. Sometimes daily depending on what is going on and there are plenty of other players like that.
