New Class Ideas for Companion Riding

In my opinion, Cataphract and Schwarzer Reiter are very interesting classes, riding your companion into battle and fighting with them, and also the nice speed boost. These classes are somewhat underplayed but I still think there is potential for more in every class

Here are some ideas:

1. Caravan Master (Swordsman)
Would preferably use a 1-handed sword and a dagger, users of cloth
Could use the current companions, but maybe also have a unique mini camel companion. This would be more fit at rank 9 since they could be a successor to the Fencer class, being light on armor but still able to lead the fray, with the ability to use storage from anywhere in the world, have resources for healing for allies from the companion, and maybe even if the character were a squire, the companion could be used for being the repair station and weapon enhancing station at the same time, would likely have simple abduction skills similar to corsair’s hook

Abilities:

  • Ransom: The caravan master holds onto an enemy, causing all nearby enemies to drop their defense and unable to attack, while also disabling the held enemy. The effect lasts a few seconds, and the enemies drop a small amount of silver in return for their ally
  • Camel Blockade: The caravan master dismounts, and the companion sits in place, providing nearby allies with shots blocked by the armored companion, damage that the companion takes is heavily reduced
*Camel Aid: The companion window has a potion setup, allowing allies to connect a lifeline to themselves, constantly healing them over time while there are potions in the camel’s inventory
*Bouncing blade: The caravan master tosses his dagger at an enemy, inflicting heavy damage and applying extra effects based on its stats. If this ability kills the target, the dagger returns to the caravan master and the cooldown is halved, applies extra backstab damage

2. Pilgrim (Cleric)
Useful for vision and guidance, the pilgrim could follow a path similar to a Bokor by befriending enemies and fighting with them, or attaching shaman enemies to an ally to heal them.
Pilgrims could also further build on the playstyle of the pardoner, but in this situation having the spells ready on the companion and able to sell them anywhere, in a dungeon, on the field, any player that comes across a pilgrim will be blessed with the loss of silver in exchange for some of those beautiful pardoner buffs

Abilities:
*Star of Bethlehem: The pilgrim brightens a path towards a target point, creating a speed boost towards the target point. Any enemies in the path will also be blinded, unable to attack with basic attacks
(Currently working on more abilities, the Pilgrim is definitely a class that would be hard to formulate abilities for)

3. Dragon Tamer (Wizard)
A new companion would have to be made for this class, being maybe a small dragon or something similar to a minivern. Would implement a new resource called Windbeat, allowing the Dragon Tamer to soar above the enemies for up to 10 seconds, with a 20 second recharge time. This resource could be used for the desired amount of time, whether it is for 1 second or the whole 10 seconds. During flight the Dragon Tamer would blast enemies below with fireballs or dive into an enemy and pin them to the ground, or slam a group of enemies back, ready to set up a new flight and a chain of hurt from a dragon

Abiliites:
*Flight: 2 second cooldown, The mounted dragon tamer soars above the ground, avoiding attacks and given access to airborne abilities
*Dragon’s Bombard: the dragon lets out fireballs over 3 seconds to enemies immediately below where it is flying, dealing massive damage
*Pinning Dive: The dragon drops at a steep angle, coming off of flight. If the dragon lands on an enemy, the enemy will be stunned, and any action it was taking will be cancelled
*Body Slam: The dragon takes a dive, shaking the ground in a shockwave and slamming enemies hit back
*Grand Tempest: The dragon flaps its wings, creating a tornado which damages enemies, and if the dragon flies over this area, it hovers without consuming Windbeat, and allows the Dragon Tamer to fire any abilities freely down to the ground

4. Chiron (Archer)
This class is a reference to the Greek centaur of the same name, who was praised for his intellectual and knowledge of medicine. He taught many great Greek legends like Achilles, Ajax, Perseus, among others. In ToS, a Chiron would live up to his name, being an archer who has medical prowess and can teach their allies how to be better in the art of combat

Abilities:
*Target Practice: The Chiron activates this ability, and for the next 10 seconds, any basic attacks that allies hit on enemies will add a stack of Precision, up to 5. Once the 10 seconds are up or once the Chiron reactivates the ability, the targets with stacks on them will be marked as vulnerable, making the next basic attack on them deal bonus damage and have % armor ignore per stack of Precision, by 20% per stack.
*Constellation: The Chiron connects all his allies together, with the player casting this on the front line ally. Every ally’s basic attacks will now originate from the front line ally, therefore being an ability that is good at keeping the healers in the backline while still being able to deal damage, and also enabling ranged attackers to further extend their reach
*Friend or Foe: Chiron drops a Gyslotis Rune (bought from the Chiron master). If an ally steps on the rune, they’ll be healed over time. Enemies will be lured to the rune, and if an enemy steps on it, Chiron can reactivate the ability to detonate it, dealing massive damage

I have a few more ideas but maybe I will add them later, but so far these are what I want to show, I could also later make some art for them and formulate some abilities. Please let me know what you think!
