They JUST released news about their add-on policy.
Basically it’s common sense. If the add-on appears to be giving you a serious advantage in game or allowing you to do things automatically like automatically move your character, attack, automatically use potions or any other abnormal gameplay then it’s against the rules.
All of the mods currently are okay. But do not add any which effect gameplay in any way. Mods that display information and stuff like that are totally fine though.
it’s always vague when talking about add-ons. it would be better if imc would be specific with which add-ons are allowed (i.e. specific list of add-ons). which add-ons are advantageous or not is just as debatable as how common common sense really is.
IMC doesn’t even have the staff on hand to moderate these forums or update the game in a timely manner. There’s no way they have the manpower to manually approve add-ons.
So they just left it up in the air. “Use at your own discretion”. It’s lazy, sure, but it is what it is and it will never change.
They can not specify which add-ons are allowed. Lets say, for example, they announced that cwCleric is allowed. Everybody downloads it, But then the person who scripted the add on can easily “update” the content to make it game breaking, or include a feature that violates the mechanics.
well if that’s the case, we’re all doomed. also, it’s sad when there a lot of add-ons are supposed to be quality of life features in-game. (e.g. whisper notification sounds. srsly. it’s just sad others have to make add-ons for that)
speaking from experience (homunc AI from azzy in RO is in a pinned thread) it would be best if devs or someone would just pin a thread here in the forums. it’s more ideal actually. the forums should be a repository of such information and files.
I agree. Most of these add-ons are just quality of life things that should be in the vanilla version of the game. It’s a common complaint and I’m personally annoyed at IMC for not, ya know, taking any time to “Polish” the game.
Right now it feels like this:
Why polish a game when you can just let add-ons fix everything for the players… and then not even give the players a clear idea on what’s safe and okay to use.
I don’t have any faith in IMC tbh. Game’s awesome but needs a lot of quality of life polish as well as balance fixes and other things. Too many issues to deal with and IMC is working slower than a turtle.
i dont mind the balance for now given that there are tons of bugs that aren’t even supposed to be there. there will always be something to balance out when it comes to the meta but the bugs as they are now, it feels like we’re playing an alpha testing of the game.
