Nerfing Sorc's afk abilities

I’m one of those rare sorc/necros who rolled the class long before AFK farming out of a misguided love for terrible pet builds, and I agree that AFK farming should be stopped.

There is a very clear negative impact on the gameplay experience of normal, non-AFK farming players. There is no way to keep up with the tens of millions of silver one gets while they’re asleep from having an AFK-farming account. Silver is attributes, silver is gear, silver is power. The advantage AFK farmers have over normal players is huge and unfair. I’m an AFK farmer and I hate it for exactly that reason.

If you get serious, you leech up a couple of AFK-farming alts and leave them running 24/7. I know people who have generated hundreds of millions of legit silver this way, at practically no effort. Of course, that was before the bee farm channel nerf. You’re a fool if you do this now, because if everybody did it, each channel would have 50 necros packed into it, and no one would get anything. I firmly believe this is where we’re headed.

I think the best way to kill off AFK farming is to make pets unable to acquire new targets without user input of some kind. It doesn’t have to be some kind of pain in the ass attack this target deal, it can be something as simple as them refusing to fight after 5 seconds of no or identical user input. Then everyone would macro random user input, of course. But they’d be real easy to catch, then.

You don’t play this game, I don’t care to read what you have to say about it.

Before you type another word, consider that you have barged into this thread responding to me to brag about the scumbags in this game you haven’t seen since closed beta, or whenever the last time you played was, which has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Consider that your only reason for being here right now, on a forum for a game you no longer play, is to stir ■■■■ and enjoy other people stirring ■■■■.

You tell me what your initial response to my post has to do with bad leveling spots and afk farming. I am not new here, but I don’t spend much of my time here. Y’know, because I’m playing the game actively.

edit: Don’t bother replying, I won’t read it. Find me in game if you want to talk about your trash sadhu build because it has literally nothing to do with any of the points I’ve made about sorcs/necros.

View link and context. This whole thread is about AFK farming which is a pretty scum bag thing to do and nothing to do with me quitting yet you’re furious that I said something. Which amazingly the same thing you basically said is something I said months ago about Dina Bee Farm. So in some paradoxical world where I have no right to say something I know nothing about then you shouldn’t either because we said the thing! :joy:

And I wasn’t even trying to stir up anything! You started this so here accurately sums up what happened:

Reporting AFK Sorc’s (even using Auto-Pot or Keyboard Macros) and or Necro’s does not harm them. It harms you, because the system won’t recognize them as a Bot. But you lose points to the system for a false flag.

That is something which used to bother me a lot about the reporting system in general. Unless you’re sure that you’re sure someone is a bot or exploiting you run the risk of losing credibility. People used to complain and report the “Z key” farmers which came before AFK Sorcs became all the rage which is where a lot of this started.

Main problem though is that 140-190 gap having few feasible areas to grind because the literal 10-15 zones within that range are barren wastelands with about 10 spawns every 5 minutes in an area.

I know, I’m just informing those who have the misconception that reporting those who are AFKing at Dina-Bee are doing something to help, when they’re only hurting themselves.

Off topic: 140-163 goes relatively quick for me. Demon Prison is by far faster EXP compared to anywhere else. Even Dina-Bee. Between running missions, and collecting all 5-6-7 cards (I don’t usually have to touch level 5-6 Cards to hit 145) I can get through that hump in a days time or so. Then from 163 use lv7-8-9 Cards to boost up to 214 the following day/s. I also generally skip Alemeth besides a couple levels. Even more so now that they added more quest/zones.

Sorc Auto-Potting is ban-able but hard to catch without a dedicated person (GM or what have you watching them) Unless of course they’re using the Add-on which then just takes a word from IMC. Necro’s, honestly it might not be right, but there is really nothing against the ToS as same as the people sitting in Crystal Mines using their pet to kill Goblins.

I admit, about once a week I will AFK in Dina with my Necro/Sorc. (Although I don’t use Temple Shooter unless I am there. Quit literally. I have far to much time invest on my account to take the chance of losing it.) Only to gather enough silver to pay for all my SP pots and Corpse Pots. Usually about 300k gets me through the week. Most times after a few hours of AFK I come back and I am dead. Which is fine, my pets died and Slow-goth couldn’t save me.

How much does one person doing this, in a day, make in silver? From my understanding it’s an astonishingly small amount.[/quote]
As some people have said, something like 2m/day.
And while it’s not that much if only one person does it, if tons of people do it is alot of freely generated money that stacks up over time.

Say you have 30 people on all channels doing it for 7 days a week, that’s 420 million silver per week that gets introduced to the economy. These 420 million wouldn’t be there if people didn’t afk farm but it greatly contributes to inflation. In one month it’s over 1.6 billion.

Vendor classes like Squire don’t make money out of nothing, other people pay them money for their services, no money gets freely generated that way, the money just changes the owner.

Afk farming does generate money out of nowhere, since monsters are constantly getting killed, who then generate money as drop.

There is a difference between me giving you 10 bucks and 10 bucks popping out of nowhere.
If i give you 10 bucks the economy loses 10 bucks since i give it away, but it also gains 10 bucks since you recieved it, so overall its ±0.
If 10 bucks pop up out of nowhere then it hurts the economy since suddenly there is 10 more bucks available on the market, therefore slightly devaluating the money overall, probably resulting in slightly higher prices for everyone.

Also a thing with squires, and player shops in general is that they suffer from a 50% tax. And add in any reagents used.

For instance if someone repairs a 1 * item at my squire, it would take 160 silver for the squire to break even because every player shop suffers a 50% tax. If I charged 190, I would make 15 silver per star. Perhaps making 60 silver per item on average, while the person repairing spends like 15k. More money is taken out of the system than is generated.

I never known Z farming against the rules. I saw some ppl do it but I know which is bot which it Z. I used reporting system only to someone who’s a bot.

It’s not, IF you’re presently there pressing holding Z. Using a heavy object or keyboard macro when you’re not there, is against the TOS.

Do not use the report function if they are not a “true” bot. AFK Sorcs, Necros and Archers are not consider Bots by the system and you will only hurt yourself.

I have seen a new trend however. Some well made macro’s where the sorc will go out, run in a predetermined path attack use abilities, put down a campfire and even rest instead of auto-potting. It’ looks good at first tile you watch them for awhile and notice the same thing, time and time again.
