I don’t care for drama and salt but I’d like to know what your opinion is on the refine system in ToS
Do you think it is fine?
out of 10 how balanced would you say ToS is?
Does having such a powerful weapon make the game a bit easy? I mean don’t one shot almost everything.
How would you feel about a maximum level being applied to refining?
for me the refine system is 10 out of 10.
coz its RNG. if u lucky then u lucky if u not then u not.
plus its not possible to reach that if i dont have 22 potential.
most of item potential is 13/14/15 (for example orange and miki item). only this 1 is alot.
having a good weapon doenst mean that everything is ez,
take wb for example. u have a +999999999999999999 bow but u reach when boss left 10% hp u will not get cube.
where is the fun if maximum lvl upgrade is applied.
thats what make the item unique. if everyone have the same upgrade same weapon then just play candy crush. or clash of clan.

2nd +11 (use diamond)
3rd +11 (use diamond)

I’ve said several times, the items should have a maximum refinement limit. For example +21 and there should be a way to achieve 100% chance of refinement, so it has a 100% chance of success for transcend.
So everyone would have the same chances of winning.

RNG is a shi-t mechanic. It is entirely based on making one lose a lot and spend more. There are no skill involved in this process and it makes it no different than mobile games, which abuses this kind of system in a ridiculous way.
And the worst part is, the problem here is not that the industry is not making fair games, it is that there are people who actually enjoy it and they force almost any online game (at least those that I end liking) to have RNG at some point. So yeah, playing mobile games, even if I did not hate them, wouldn’t be possible.

that’s why aura kingdom had my favorite upgrade system. everything about it was perfect and promoted work instead of rng (at least when I played)
While I agree there should be a limit, I would say cap somewhere around 30 or maybe 35.
+21 is still achievable with some people who spent money for it.
While going past 30 isn’t impossible but it did makes difference between P2W, 24/7 players or just lucky bastard(unless the rumored crash channel exploit which I personally don’t care and already turn blind on it)

I support the cap idea. It’s broken system but make it higher number.
Edit 1: While I am it, the potential system is already good and I like it. Sure it has flaws on 0 potential item which makes it pretty much dead equipment but it’s actually pretty good IMO

if I were to come up with a preferred upgrade system I’d just combine trans and anvil system into one. use anvils if you wanna fight with RNG, use blessed shards if you want to go slow but sure. keep the cap at something like +15 with each +5 effectively the same amount as the base damage of a weapon. going +11 should take a lot of BS or have low chance of success if you use anvil.
for example: weapon with 1k atk. going +5 guaranteed anvil it becomes 2k atk. going +10 you can anvil for 50% chance each time or use BS for guaranteed but take like 20BS each time and it ends up 3k atk. finally going +15 you take 25% chance with anvils or take 10BG each time so you can cap at 4k atk.
rough numbers but that’s the idea, just tweak the amount of resources required to however grindy IMC wants the game to be

Yea, AK’s refining system was perfect in everyway. Getting to +20 is possible for every single player.
The p2w bit you mentioned was more of the tiered spenders which allows you to make a “GM wish” that can create some really insane stuffs.
Those +18 / 20 fortification scrolls from ruby coins imo was not p2w though most from the community felt it was. Doing the dungeons at every reset and so on will eventually yield you +20 gears. I was one of those dedicated players back then

Nah, that’s still all good(salt), we just need another, more refined ‘Pro League’ TBL with better IMC made restrictions. Something along the lines of:
-stat, gears are all normalized
-CC and damage immunity skill changed to unlimited duration but requires channeling
-PB changed to 10sec, proc at 40-60% when hit
-1HKO skills changed to heavy damage(50-70% hp of target)+5sec stun, cannot kill so you can FINISH HIM!
Keep the old shitty buggy TBL as ‘Free League’ TBL with their own rankings so players can keep their d!ck waving contests to satisfy their egos.
And I don’t even bother to PvP here in ToS due to its renowned poor balancing in many aspect of the game.

Moreover, don’t make any comparison between your Varena and Telsiai server anymore as in clean/dirty history. Those Telsiai player knew there are quite a lot of peoples here are very geared. That’s why the price of Diamond Anvil here could up to x3 higher than Varena server.
Then what is the point of grind and make equipment since all gears normalized? Meaning to say that even a newbie also could join TBL having same gear and stat with existing 1 year+ player who farm and spend a lot of time in TOS?

That would be solved by making PVE hard again like CBT, after all, the normalization he is referring to is PVP only.

Sure why not, if the ‘new’ guy actually does have enough playing skillz and coordination to keep up.
Number of tools(skills) to use is the only reasonable gap between low and high lvl chars.
I did add ‘but requires channeling’. Tho thinking about it now I did’t put Wiz2’s Surespell in consideration, then again, maintaining such good skill effects means caster itself is rooted, not so bad then, rest is how they’ll work out as a team.

My suggestion of course would only work out only after IMC ends up doing a proper balancing with the classes.
Not exactly the best example but my idea is similar to Elsword’s Official Arena and Sparring Rooms.
tldr: we’ll get both
TBL1(old)=keyboard face rolling one shot fest + with different rooms so newbies(swordies) can also try out w/o being steamrolled.
TBL2(new)= certain restrictions applies, teamwork required, skilled players only(only viable after a ‘good class balancing’,so probly never)
