Need help with Murmillo for Re:build

im planning on making a new Murmillo for Re:build

what im hoping to make is a tank type that can actually kill mobs in acceptable speed

this is the build tree im thinking about

Sword -> Murm -> Pelt -> ???

i thought of using Hoplite since im going to be using shields and murm and pelt skills work for spears right?

anyone can give other class to exchange hoplite?
and can anyone give any important skills i should get really get or focus?

Barbarian is the way to go. You get +40% dmg basically anywhere except PvP and another +25% dmg on top of that when fighting mobs of group sizes more than 10.

Barbarians also have Seism which stuns a lot and has very good AoE/AoE atk ratio and damage and Cleave which will boost your Frenzied Slash damage against bosses by 20%.

Hoplite is decent against bosses because of Spear Lunge’s +50% damage, Stabbing and Pierce’s four hits of 304%, but it still doesn’t compare with Barbarian as overall dps.

I’m playing this build right now, Barb + Murmi + Pelta, it’s stupidly strong being pretty much immortal in Saalus and dealing considerable damage added to the fact you can chain stun bosses.

Also, get Bash to knockback mobs and make hitting with Frenzied Slash MUCH easier. Pick one between Gung Ho / Bear and Pain Barrier max.

My current build looks like this:

https://tos.guru/itos/simulator?build=eyJqb2JzIjpbIkNoYXIxXzEiLCJDaGFyMV82IiwiQ2hhcjFfMTIiLCJDaGFyMV8zIl0sInNraWxscyI6eyIxMDAwMiI6NSwiMTAwMDMiOjUsIjEwMDA1Ijo1LCIxMDEwMSI6MTAsIjEwMTAzIjoxNSwiMTAxMDQiOjUsIjEwMTEwIjoxMCwiMTA0MDUiOjE1LCIxMDQwNiI6MTAsIjEwNDA4Ijo1LCIxMDQxMCI6MTAsIjEwNDExIjo1LCIxMTMwMSI6MSwiMTEzMDIiOjE1LCIxMTMwNCI6NCwiMTEzMDciOjEwLCIxMTMwOCI6MTAsIjExMzEwIjo1fSwic3RhdHMiOnsiQ09OIjowLCJERVgiOjAsIklOVCI6MCwiU1BSIjowLCJTVFIiOjB9LCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjoyfQ%3D%3D

For Barb it’s really important to max Pouncing, Frenzy and Warcry. Seism is great too and usually will be maxed as well. Cleave deals pretty high damage to stunned mobs and/or bosses, but unfortunately no skill points leftover to max it.

For Pelta, you max Swash and Hard Shield, and the rest doesn’t matter much. Guardian helps against tough fights but you really won’t take any damage anyways to make it useful. You can trade Umbo Blow lv 10 for max High Guard, but I take it as unecessary having even further physical defense.

You have plenty of stuns: Frenzied Slash, Seism, Emperor’s Bane, Umbo Blow and Headbutt which is the best stunning skill (stuns for 3 seconds with 3 overheats, jesus christ). If you time your stunning skills right you can cancel almost all of a bosses’ attack skills.

I’ll also recommend pelt-barb-murm, its a lot of fun.

The only different thing I did is that I maxed Headbutt, its a must max skill for me. Its % may look bad, but it deals 2x dmg when wearing the helmet, and also deal extra damage to stunned targets, so in the end its very strong.

By the way, if you want to use spears with this build, you can. You dont need to take hoplite to equip them anymore. In fact, I use a Rapier with mine lol

I’m also trying a Sword and Shield Build. I don’t have enough levels to get 3 jobs, but so far, I tested Barb, and it’s basically a job you can use as a filler for almost all jobs (Except mounted? I couldn’t test).

I tested Murm-Barb , and it has really good mobility, skill cycle and of course, really good AOE. Pounce, Cleave and Seism FTW. Frenzy’s not bad, but I don’t feel it.

Murm-Rodelero - Not very good. Goes against Murm’s play style (IMO), but not bad to pair with Peltasta if you wanna focus on shields ala Captain America. At least I can say that DPS-wise it’s not a big increase.

EDIT - My murm is mid level, apparently I’m missing out on some high level mechanics. Rodelero may be a viable choice if you’re going to get a tankier role. Murm - Pelt - Rode has some useful skills to compliment Murm’s attack and defend kind of playstyle. Still less DPS from barb, but stat wise, lotsa con and defense.

How you set the skill set with the headbutt going max ?

I did this:

Reason for 0 points on frenzied slash is just because I dont like that skill. 0 points on sprint too, because I dont feel the need to have this skill.
Also its worth pointing out I havent tested Evade thrust yet to know if its worth it, because I’m only class lvl11.

Getting Frenzied Slash or Headbutt depends wether you prefer a more AoE dps or single-target dps playstyle.

The biggest problem with Headbutt is the total lack of AoE atk ratio, which makes it horrible against a big quantity of monsters. On the other hand, Frenzied Slash hits a fixed amount of targets, which is much better than +AoE atk ratio. Hitting 19 targets means about 38 AoE atk ratio (medium-size mobs have 2 AoE defense), which is super good and doesn’t rely on Centaurus Cards.

Of course Headbutt deals very high damage to bosses and gives tons of stuns too. If you’re more into bossing it’s your best Murmi skill for sure.

Between Frenzied Slash and Scutum, I think Frenzied Slash is even better at the moment. It has a bigger area, hits much more targets, stuns targets and deals more damage, all that with the drawback of 5 extra seconds cooldown.

Frenzied Slash used to suck before Re:Build and Scutum was the bread and butter for Murmillos. Now on Re:Build however tables have changed.

Evade Thrust is horrible now. Too little skill factor and AoE/AoE atk ratio.

NOTE: Btw it’s not written anywhere, but Frenzied Slash gets +50% dmg from Cassis Crista as well.

Hey guys, thanks for threads like this. I have nearly no time to test them out due to work and sports.

It’s great to hear people’s experiences in playing around with builds. Many changes that even the weak/useless ones from before became viable (I read somewhere Oracle is strong with zealot now?). I hope you guys will keep it up and discuss more builds.

Fair enough, guess I’ll give Frenzied slash another try. It would be possible to max both Headbutt and Frenzied slash, as long as I drop some points from Scutum/Train/Emperor’s bane. Maybe I’ll do something like this, dropping Scutum to 1 and Emperor’s bane to 3(skill is too slow imo, and I dont really like the 8 targets max)

And yeah, its dissapoiting that Scutum lost its overheats… I still love that skill but I have to admit it isnt as good as before

has anyone tried a matador variant like this one http://www.inven.co.kr/board/tos/4195/117383 ??
it looks quite fun  cant test it because i dont have a decent rapier/sword :frowning:

is there any difference in what class path should i pick first? or the best one is to get barb first then murm then pelt?

Not really, just note the last class you pick might be the one you’ll have fewest skill points (unless you’re max class lvl as well).
