Need help in the choice of 3 builds for PVE (1h spear VS 2h Spear VS Rapier)

Hi there swordies,
I come here as a dirty wizard player and would like to gain some help deciding the build of my next character a Swordie for PVE, the main thing I’m concerned about is being of use in Earth tower higher floors.

Sword3 > Pelt1 > Corsair1 > Fencer3 (Rapier + shield/dagger)

Sword2 > Pelt1 (or sword3?) > Cata3 > Dragoon > Dragoon2 (one handed spear + shield/dagger)

Sword3 > Cata3 > Dragoon1(possibly something else here?) > Lancer (2h Spear)

Anyone experience with any of the above 3 builds and can give me some advice?!

cata is for pvp you might want to go doppel3 if you want to do earth tower.

Ohh that’s to bad really, is it not viable in PVE? maybe the Dragoon build since you rely on two ranks of Dragoon to do dmg?

Well its not viable for higher floors of earth tower, most pve dragoon builds take hop3 and dragoon is not as good as doppel3 for earth tower. Fencer could possibly work but its not as good as doppel.

Swordies also have a problem with aoe ratio so you will need a linker or falc3. For the lower floors almost anything can work and it really depends on the rest of your team.

well, i play a hoplite 3 doppel c1 dragoon c2 and that build is definitely viable for earth tower, dragoon c2’s serpentine works really well with when its synergized with taoist’s storm calling and another dps doppel. Not to mention dethrone.
IT IS true however that doppel by himself is better than dragoon c2 for earth tower, the aoe damage of cyclone is just insane with DoV
you can also build a pelt 3 murmilo for ET, but this is more of a tanker build more than anything else
i’d build a doppel 3 for an ET specific build
you can also do it with a dragoon 2 but its true that it might not be as good, doppel is better for higher floors.
Also i play a cataphract-lancer and i would definitely NOT pick a cataphract for a pve specific build.

Ya serpentine is great but you would have to build a team around that to get the full benefit, and dethrone does a ton of dmg but the knockback / desync is really annoying if your not careful.

yea right now im building a team around my dragoon, with inquisitor taoist doppel c3 and hopefully we’ll find a linker or some kind of chrono/sage
i’ll let you know how it is :slight_smile:

Is there no viable Cata3 build for PVE? that’s to bad !
