Naming crafted items and memos

I’m just curious if any of you guys like to craft items and weapons with funny, unique or bad a$$ names to help try to sell it over the competitors in the Auction House? Also would you let the buyer know that the gear/weapon they have equipped was personally made by you if you saw them with something you created?

Anyways I’m probably the minority who like to think of interesting or cool names to put on things to be sold in the AH though I’ve seen a few here and there like the Beetleback shield I bought was named BigBooty~

I’m one of the people who never buy any named items because I didn’t get to choose the name and I prefer without.

While it is fun and all, not everyone like that, if you plan on selling an item later on, i suggest you to not name it.

Like this one i have, i won’t be selling…

I tried to sell this one but no one wanted, well i found use for it on the new maps, since most of the mob is earth type…

The only memo I’ve done is to my max petamion, I spent my whole summer and a bit more rushing this dungeon daily just for peta so the moment I got my max peta I would have felt pretty empty without a memo at least.

I’m not a fan of it tho, but still can stand a memo, giving a name is kinda ugly and I wouldn’t buy an item renamed that’s sure xD

Yeah I usually do since I like doing it. Giving players the freedom to name the weapon is a good thing that rarely be found in mmo’s. One thing that I don’t like is the no space between the crafted name and the item name.

But of course I don’t like to name my items after some goofy names like you just mentioned. I did sell my Beetleback before, naming it “Aegis” with a memo of “Once said to protect, even from death itself”, with a good price.

Also, depends on the item. If it’s outside of my class, I won’t named it. But if it’s something that I can use for a long while, most likely would named it.

I only buy these items if they are below the standard value

This. I mean sometimes the names are cute, but I’d rather just have the original, and not be identified as the person who “Hey you bought my shield” or something.

I admit I tend to name my stuff “Cafe’s” when I craft it and intend to keep it. Though I’ve sold some things and seen a few people running around with my old stuff, which I find kinda… cute. xD Probs the only funny thing I’ve attempted was my sword for my Hakka says “I hakka you.”

Oh but I had someone name a weapon for me once and put a really nice memo. I don’t even use it anymore but I kept it because it was so nice. I like how you can personalize your weapons or make gifts for folks… like a greeting card, lol.

I’ve only changed one item’s name and here it is.
Thank you @STAFF_Max! I use it everyday~

I’ve added a memo to another item as well…

That’s about all I’ve done.

I usually try to avoid oddly named items on the market as well, but if I can get a deal… it really doesn’t matter.

I never purchase renamed items because they are mostly too vain/vulgar for my taste and they distract from the item as well (just my opinion).

On another note, I know everyone who’s ever bought an item of mine should I encounter them (except maybe for Petamion because they can turn that into a Max Petamion).

Mine has the default name and a memo with the date it was made and my in-game family name. (MM/DD/YYYY - DiMeowgio)

Scrap that, I don’t buy “crafted items”, only recipes. (see above)

Except maybe a Battle Bracelet which I’ll change into a Sissel.

I once bought a Manamana named Healthhealth.

I never like buying stuff with name
for example like this

1.they put their own name in the eq
Someone’s (eq name)
and sell it (it makes me ignore them instead of buying …even tho its probably good)

  1. bad name …literally bad name

  2. +10 (+2 eq name)

  3. fake name (real eq name)

It will be actually good to have some hidden interaction in naming items. Like additional physical/magic def/base stat or such. Like each alphabet will either add or minus to the total value given a point system.

Like vowels like AEIOU minus the physical def by 0.2 per vowel used.
Characters like Q W X etc adds the value by 0.5 per character

Example naming it STAFF_ will give +2 int and -3 con, something like that.

This will encourage players to come up with creative names which can add stats and inject more fun to the game, rather than it being there which have no use besides personalising the item.

*note: Min-maxers will just ignore the ugly names and type QQQQQQQQ for the best stat. :3

Well this was more insightful than originally intended though I’m not too surprised many people aren’t a fan of naming weapons. I admit I love doing it, hell if any of you played Fire Emblem: Awakening I’d totally be Owain, that nutjob names everything and makes awkward poses heh.

Anyways names may catch my attention if there are items of the same price, just let’s me know they thought about being creative, even if it was just for a few seconds so I’d buy it but the truth of the matter is price always wins hands down for me. Whatever I can but at the lowest cost is my main goal, names come next.

Thanks Max! I promise I’ll return it unscathed when I’m done with it.

there is actually a RPG game called ‘Treasure of Rudras’. where you are allowed name your own spells and its effect gets stronger/weaker depending on the prefix/suffix or letters you place in it.
