I took on the boss quest in the caverns (the one on the 3rd floor, intended for people around level 22), and ended up in a party to take on the boss. After the boss fight, I had a ton of connect issues, and the quest got counted as complete. However, the quest item, the “mysterious plate” or something like that, wasn’t found/dropped and the boss room is empty. However, the quest continues to progress, so I am stuck in a loop. What do I even do from there? I can’t drop the quest, since it’s a main quest.

It doesn’t drop. Since this was 32m ago you may have already figured it out, you have to talk to the crystal again and a cut-scene will give you the item.
My point is, there is NOTHING there for me to talk to haha. I tried logging out and relogging and changing rooms several times, it still didn’t work. I did however, find the fourth floor of the dungeon made for lv 100s and up.
The same thing happened to me, I’ve tried everything I could, but i can’t do the quest again.
Try to contact a GM in game, they should have the ability to give items and can just spawn you the item.
A bug in a main story quest is realllly bad, unless you like to grind often
