My two cents on leveling Dievdirby

Don’t do it alone.

Pros:

  1. 20% CD (although nobody notices it),
  2. Reduce SP cost (again nobody really notices it).
  3. Owl does crazy aoe damage but has very long cd.
  4. Carve is decent single target damage.
  5. Invulnerable statue
  6. Very good synergy with druid.
  7. Good enough to get for only circle one for the CD and SP statue.

Cons:

  1. Your statues are practically useless in 99% of boss fights since they get knocked around everywhere. You can’t move them on your own so basically waste of mana.

  2. Trying to place the statue in an optimal spot then getting knocked down and it goes on 1-2 minute cooldown.

  3. Nobody cares/knows to stand in your statue auras.

  4. Very slow/bad time leveling alone.

  5. Need to give up weight for carrying wood.

  6. Need to have a circle of krivis/priest so you can kill flying mobs without pulling your hair out.

I personally think the leveling/grinding portion is bad enough to make someone reroll before it starts getting good with druid. If you can stick it out it will be worth it.

Welcome to the life of a cleric!

Ok, but thanks for saying this, cause I was thinking of rolling another cleric to go FS diev because I hate my life and love suffering. I didn’t know statues could be knocked around - I assumed they were static, never played with a diev.

Am rolling a Str Pally and just finished up with Diev.
Can confirm, I kinda felt useless outside of heals/safety zone in dungeons at this stage.

I like:

  1. Statues have soft taunts!
  2. Pocket teleport
  3. Carve is crazy good vs plants
  4. SP statue synergy with Pally SP restoration attribute

I don’t like:

  1. Statues suck sp dry if you try and keep them up 100% of the time
  2. Yeah no one notices the statue effects/cares
  3. Sometimes when I carve, my character gets stuck in the animation and I can’t move for a good 3 seconds
  4. Carve is crap for AoE-ing, can hit maybe 2-3 mobs at best if the heavens align and they’ll split the damage :crying_cat_face:
  5. The teleport statue does not eliminate the teleport cost, it literally just makes you a teleport statue in front of you. (1 point in Divine Might and you can pump this up from 1 time -> 2 time use!)

When I dungeon, I like to place the cooldown statue first then sp on top of each other, then safety zone either the statues or tank.

Now I’m seriously debating whether to reroll my supposedly diev3 wannabe. Not rerolling because of the difficulty or slowness, but due to the time already spent thus far, and very much doubting the overall usefulness in a party.

Plus the fact that Team Storage does almost nothing to keep/share all items and silvers we gained on another char.

The bosses rarely knock my owl statue back. But that’s because I wait to draw aggro, then wait until they attack me and quickly place 2 owl statues to either their side or back and wait in safety wall.

At max, there will only be about a 10 second cd between owl casts (given you’ve casted laima first)

I pretty much am top or 2nd top DPS in my party provided that they lure monsters into my owl statues.

Curious does these diev weaknesses apply to:

  1. STR dps
  2. INT dps
  3. support

All of the above? Owl is based on int. Other than that and carve (str based), the statues don’t rely on other stats.

I don’t have any problem though except the flying mobs.

I strongly suggest you go something like 10 INT 5 CON 1 SPR, i’m going all plate armor too for extra HP. I’m at lvl 110 with 10k HP.

When I go to questing and see flying mobs I just run around and party with someone on that spot. Usually people are nice and let you join them.

DON"T go that carve skill it’s useless. It with STR and if you wanna go Druid (wish I will do) you need a lot of INT for damage.

I really recommend you go C2 Cleric and ignore all those hitting the flying mobs. The only problem I have with flying mobs is when I was in C1 Diev, and doing the quest on Mausoluem, I just decide to eat up the XP card and be C2 Diev to use owl (Max that one first).

Then it just a game of use fade (another C2 cleric skill), stealth in there put the CD totem on (with artribute speed reduce for mobs, it aggro mobs). Then move a bit and build the OWL (just one.)

Then you repeat. This combo works well when you go to the area with high density mobs (usually any dead-end in the map or room area).

This is my 10 INT, 5 CON, 1 SPR build
C2 Cleric > C3 Diev > C1 Druid and C1 Pague Doctor
Pro

Versatile,
Don’t die easily,
High utility
Kill mobs fast in high dense area

Con

Long cooldown (to bypass this, make the CD totem, before you put the second owl, it reduce 20% CD) with cooldown give enough time to walk to different spot
Bad at killing mobs along the way

**For your point with the people ignore totems, I don’t think you can help much.
For boss fight, don’t put up the owl yet. Fight it a bit with Cure/Heal. Usually that when you know where boss will be and just put Owl on that area. I never have a problem with a single boss from questing with this method

**IMPORTANT, even though boss can knock the Cooldown totem, the area effect doens’t change. It’s still in the same place. But for the owl, it did change.

Sorry for the wall of text.

EDIT* I played solo most of the time, but I always max dungeons except the past few days.
