The point of this build is to not be the top DPSing badace or the bossiest tankiest beef cake. The point of this build is to quest, collect, explore and adventure.
I wanted to create a character with skills to get an edge with farming and that could independently explore the game. I ended this build at rank 7 because I am still unsure as to what I will do with rank 8, 9 and 10.
Any comments or feedback are welcome!
You should consider the 1-handed spear variant (Hoplite instead of Barbarian)…it does way more damage 
Is that because of the 1 handed spear weapons that are available compared to 1 handed and 2 handed spears? Or the calculation for that variant is stronger in general?
Ive already gone Sc2 and Bc2, but siince this build goes to rank 7, i have a little wiggle room for what I may add in rank 8.
If you haven’t already used all your points for swordsman, I would advise for going Restrain, which I believe Restrain is the most prominent skill of swordsman rank 2.
Also if you are not going to use Pistol Shot, I don’t know that do you really need to go to corsair rank 3. Having higher Hexen Dropper and full uptime DWA looks good on paper, but some says that DWA isn’t worth much.
I have a Sw>Pelt>Barb2>Corsair with Dex favor, hence I don’t know the usefulness of double weapon assault yet so I can’t talk with certainty about that.
As my first character and the aim of “let’s see what is out there in this world” I planned to Cor2>fencer(2,3 with the upcoming ranks), I wanted something like a Duelist/Swashbuckler class of this game.
So you may think about switching Corsair 3 to Fencer/Barb3 especially if you are not planning on PvP. People generally go for Corsair 3 to max Iron Hook duration solely for PvP/GvG.
i wouldn’t make a farming build with a swordsman without a peltasta circle.
everything else that was said is true, i’d get hoplite c2, and don’t go corsair c3, its a waste i’d say stop at corsair c2 and go dragoon at rank 7.
if you go corsair 3 you’ll have nothing to do at rank 8, you’ll be stuck. plz do not go corsair c3.
Consider a shinobi build instead of corsair 3. You could get pelta and hoplite and get a nice skill combo in rank 7

The main reason why I wanted to go into Corsair rank 3 was to maximize Jolly Roger at level 15. In the skill description, it says that the chance to pillage items is based on the skills level.
What are some reasons on why you think going into the pelt circle is necessary for a farming swordsman? To easier grab aggro from mobs?
that, and getting parties later on, will increase your survivability also. Honestly? the taunt is enough reason to get it if you dont wanna go for 2handed swords. swordsman c2 not worth it untill buffed
If you choose to go with a shinobi build, you should invest heavily on dex, and should take in consideration keeping a cloth armor set since magical defence could be problem.
no reason to make hoplite shinobi builds
rodelero 3 shinobi murmilo is better.

This means you’re getting DEX so that evasion bonus from Pelt will help. Get Hoplite instead of Barbarian since many mobs are weak to Pierce attacks and spears are better in general (they give bonuses to medium, large and extra large [bosses] monsters). Barbarian skills will fall off later while Hop won’t.
Corsair c3 will put you behind when R8 hits iToS. It’s not worth the “farming” theme. The best class post Corsair c2 is Dragoon really, so just follow the new Hopgoon meta (sw>sw2/pelt>hop2>cor2>goon2). Dual wield most of the time and use a 2H spear against bosses (Dragoon gets bonus damage). [quote=“calebjbullard, post:7, topic:326440”]

Hexen Dropper and Jolly Roger are the only reason to get Corsair c2. Everything else sucks (Dust Devil is good to keep monsters from attacking you and it will be your only slash skill). Getting Corsair c3 just for 5 more points in JR and Hexen is a waste. Many other classes will give you more benefits. I’d get Doppel c1 for Double Pay Earn at rank 7 instead of Corsair c3 but both are bad choices for rank 7.
Unless going full CON, you’ll be able to quest and explore easily. I assume “collect” means “farming items/money” so Corsair is a good choice. I don’t know what “adventure” would mean in this game but, once more, getting Corsair c3 will put in a bad spot and will hurt your questing/exploration/whatever you name it with the new content since you’ll be pretty weak (compared to non Corsair C3 builds). You might not be able to do things independently.
I have a SW>Pelt>Barb2>Cor2 and I stopped playing it at level 212. I’m now playing a SW>Pelt>Hop2>Cor>Doppel at 208 and the games feel easier and more enjoyable. _[I took Doppel instead of Corsair c2 because weapon swap sucks during PvP (and I like having a shield equipped even if it means less damage)_]. I’m going Dragoon c2.
Swashbuckling saves you time running around to gather mobs.
Barb 2 falls off really quickly. If you insist on soloing I suggest going sword pelt hop 2 cor 2 dragoon 2, which has high burst and corsair for farming level 200+ maps.

you like solo ing? use STR-DEX hybrid 1:1 / 1:2. Tanking while dps-ing at the same time

Okay guys, so I reworked my build a little bit working with the things I’ve been reading in this topic. New Character!!
My current swordman is SWc2 > Barbc2 > Corsair.c1
Im rather determined to go to Corsair c3 despite all the advice I’ve been offered. I plan on leaving that character at rank 7, and once rank 9 comes around I’ll decide what will be my next best move.
I love the class though and have already made a 2nd to go the spear route! Here is the build I created for the 2nd swordman.
