[MOST WANTED] DPS Meter

All those flashing numbers and effects, I have no idea if I do much or no damage compared to my party/dungeon mates. DPS Meter would really help to estimate performance and class efficiency.

I’m against this. This does nothing but problems if it’s not an addon, and it’s banned from a few games because it turns into a “Mine’s bigger” contest that usually ends in the dissolution of clans, guilds, or friendships.

There’s probably an Advanced Combat Tracker plugin on the aside anyways.

A vanity tracker to boost ones ego while they flaunt their bragging rights?

That’s more stupid than eating glue.

DPS meter are good but just not for this game. You promote people to just go a certain class because the DPS is very good because of what everyone said. Then this game turns into like every other MMORPG where the creators decide to put a unique class system, but are limited by the player base because “If you don’t go this route on the Swordsman/Archer/Wizard/Cleric tree your DPS or supporting is bad and you should change your character because you’re useless.” Seen it countless times with multiple games.

No, that meter is never good, it will never be good.

If one is developed, they’re going to have a hard time making it even halfway reflect actual contributions.

For one example, does a linker get credit for all the damage done to linked targets, or does that go towards the people damaging the linked targets?

Meters can be useful, but in a game like this I agree with the other posters…there are so many builds possible with benefits that can’t be measured, that I can’t see a DPS meter doing good for the community and game.

Why does it even matter? I don’t think something like a DPS meter is going to help this game in any way. Seeking validation for your contribution in a run is fine, but the very concept of a tool that measures DPS reinforces the idea that DPS is what matters most.

And it does NOT matter most. Not by a long shot.

The whole point of all the versatile classes in ToS is to have all these unique and different things that each of them can bring to a party. Almost every class has its own role, specialty, and way of doing things, and that uniqueness is what matters, not “Am I blowing things up the fastest?”

Eliitism, arrogance, class discrimination, lack of variety in dungeon parties; these are all highly likely consequences of trying to put in a system like that. And I don’t need that in a game I love. Lets keep DPS measurements to stuff like TERA and Vindictus and appreciate the variety and diversity we have right now in ToS.

I see the downsides, but then I want something different to get at least an idea of how effective my build is LOL. And well, even in ToS the “class variety” breaks down to “tanks, dps and supports”. Tanks and Supports can measure their work in not letting their party die, but DPS can only get a rough idea of their contribution, especially when there are 3-4 of them.

Yes but again that will limit people to that certain route on Swordsman or certain route on Archer because it provides the “Most DPS” Then when someone has a weird route they will get laughed at because their DPS sucks compared to the other person. I mean for starters this community is already turning pretty bad with the brbrbrb conflict. Imagine with this implemented.

Not against because there’s already a pointless ranking for pve but I’m not in favor either for mentionned reasons above.

Oh please no. This ain’t no WoW.

DPS meter is awesome, it help perfect one rotation, and helps buildings skill order or skill focus.

As for the rest, it’s only bad when people use it in bad ways. And all the thing you are saying about “discrimination” and “optimal route” is already in plays here, for example since i didn’t take pellasta nobody wanna group me because “my only route” is “meatshield” and nobody knows if i can provide the same or close DPS to a “non optimal Archer / Wiz”. But the DPS meter would tell.

So + 1000000 for that.

@Rezken : WoW is shyt nobody cares of that game xD

1 swordman, 1 cleric, 3 wizards with the same build.
This result you will get for adding dps meter.

more than a half damagers characters in a game will understand that their damage is low compared to 1 particular build. A dozen of character become useless.
Lots of winning treads will appear.

Do you really need that?

Tbh if you want a dps meter for yourself, maybe you could have it only display yours.

Which brings the question to:

Is that really necessary? Again xD

So i think if they make one ill be really glad ill try to give a proper reason

There are only one reason : See WTF im doing . JUST IT ! NOTHING ELSE.

So pls stop fighting for something that does not exist .

If u are a slacker whatever bro, but dont come for the ppl who are not. We want to see numbers on a proper way just it.

Ty for this post ill follow it till the day this addon appears on this world .

PS : Sorry for my bad english .

someone make a dps meter!! i want to see if mine is longer than yours!!

And yet another person who wants to be carried.
