More unique attributes/item effects would make the game more interesting

So, everyone has their own opinion about the role of stats in this game. The damage is additive, the formula is relatively simple and the scaling is low based on certain stats.

To me, this is fine. I look at it like Diablo. You can be total level 1200 and without your gear, you are worthless.

With that being said, it would be nice to have more items with unique effects like the Meteor shield for example to spice up the gearing process and build diversity rather than only primary/secondary stat enchants. There are a few items like this which I’ve seen, but they are few and far between.

Attributes need the same treatment. Maybe 1-2 skills (if that) per class will have an interesting mechanic and the rest are “enhance” and “critical.”

Once again, to use a Diablo III reference: Loot 1.0 was mostly gear with added base stats and secondary stats. The gameplay didn’t change a lot before Loot 2.0, but there was major backlash at how bland the game was and how unrewarding finding gear/leveling was. Loot 2.0 comes around and all of a sudden people are loving it and grinding for hours without too much complaint (leaving the Devs with time to fix gameplay/balancing/PvE issues).

With more exciting gear that allowed players to make more of their classes, there would be less emphasis on how poor each individual stat was and players would allot them as they needed them for their item/skill-based builds.

I really don’t like how most of the equipment just add only stats and nothing interesting (with a few exception). One of the things that i liked most in RO is how the equips were more than just base stats, with a lot of custom effects running on. I really don’t like this “use the strongest set for your level, replace it for a stronger set when in higher level”.
