it might not have been a event it might have just been a guy with alot of red spheres (if you can use them in town never tried).

It’s bug skill of druid make players become monsters so they can kill each other
or you use blue monster gems and leave the area. they get agressive when you change channels or leave them. once you go back they stay agressive
