Monk Weapons for build

I plan on going cleric > priest 2 > dia > monk 3.
My question is since monk is a purely physical class should I be equipping myself with higher physical weapons like a sword or the magic damage hammers that clerics have access too?

I am looking for the highest damage option possible.

If you just get cheap stuff, you want two weapon types. Any is fine with a good physical damage. Reason is because Weapon type vs Armor type. Sometimes you want Slash, sometimes Hit, sometimes Stab. Most clerics just carry a sword and hammer with them to do both Hit and Slash.

Later you’ll want fancy stuff like Golden Falchion or Arde Dagger.

Isn’t a monk mainly skill based so your auto attack types don’t matter too much?

I am just curious if the magic attack from hammers is even useful for monks or if you want the straight phys damage from swords.

monks doesn’t use auto attacks in traditional way.Double punch becomes you aa (0 sec cd, costs 2 stamina). It’s damage type is strike, so you won’t need any hammer.Back in icbt, I used velniup+arde dagger till the level cap(200).If strike hits less damage, only then I used my basic attacks with sacrament(it was priest->monk).

Ah that’s right, most of Monk’s skills are Hit type.
In that case, I’m not sure :frowning: Maybe just get the best weapon you can get - because there are some special weapons out there that increases stats well.

EDIT: Or what @Methrammar said sounds like it’s spot on

There’s mace that grants +2 skill to all monks, so mostly they’d use that weapon

As for your cleric days, get a sword and mace. Once you get to level 40, start crafting the spiked mace, which allows to use pierce type auto attack.

All these fancy stuff - can you link us to them? O_O
On Spiked Mace - so you’ll carry a Sword and Spiked Mace and ignore Hit weapons?

No, I carried three weapons, a slash type, a blunt type and a pierce type.

You’d be using this until you turned into a monk
