Monk or Linker?

So,after careful consideration I was able to reduce my choices to these two.

I ask you all that have more knowledge about these classes which one would you prefer and why if possible.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

I say both because they both have good combinations with other classes.

Linkers are more of a support and Monks are DPS (STR based).

Linkers can share allies buffs, potions or damage with his skills and attack enemies simultaneously with Joint Penalty. Of course, there are other skills

Monks have strong skills, both attack and defense.

It really depends on which gameplay fits you better.

(I didn’t explain everything, if anyone wants to add info)

I think both (and many other classes) are great. I think your choice here should be based on what playstyle would you prefer. Monk is melee while linker is (or should be) ranged.

Monk can be played as Tank, DPS or Bruiser. It can be an all round melee IMO.

Linker is mainly a buffer/debuffer ranged support. It can be devastating with the correct party combination! You can debuff multiple enemies with lethargy, sleep and buff your allies with reflect shield (with basic Wizard skills). If you go with Chronomancer circle at higher ranks you can have incredible buffs for your entire party
Something like this would be that Chrono-Liner I mentioned: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/r8nn4wzl6e/ (you can choose Lethargy instead of energy bolt, but single target skills work great with Joint Penalty).

I prefer Linker over Monk, but that’s a personal choice ^^
Though Monk looks like one badass dps being able to survive solo, I prefer going support for this first character. (2nd is going full dps :P)

How that’s funny lol. I pretty much have the same skill tree as you.
But I plan on going Necromancer

I prefer Monk, especially since it got super buffed in CBT3 (higher damage, half CD now)

Ofcourse Linker can do amazing things with a party.

I am aware both classes have different roles and gameplay so there is no straight forward answer, but thank you for your answers and insight.

I played RO for over a decade and although I started with Wizard, late game I would go for support characs because they are fun to play and their utility in parties.

So,if I want to solo, Monk is the way to go, right? I won’t even talk about archers because I hate their gameplay, lol.

Thanks for the answers guys

Monk seens awesome!
