Mix of Melee and Range? [Quick Question]

Apologies ahead of time if a similar question has been asked and answered before.

Which classes (that we’re currently aware of) have a good variety of melee and ranged attacks in their moveset? Or, seeing how the class system works, what line of classes would probably give me this diversity I’m looking for.

I’m the sort of player that likes to have some sort of answer for nearly any given situation, so I enjoy playing well-rounded, jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none(or-few) types.

Any ideas?

Mix of melee and ranged are none atm :frowning: unless you account for peltasta shield throw, hoplite spear throw, ranger backstab and monk KAAA MEEEE HAAAA MEEE HAAAAA  at least none that I know of…

Yeah, I’ve noticed that some classes have just a single move that deviates from the norm, so to speak (melee using ranged move and vise versa).

Was hoping I may have overlooked something. :pensive:

I was hoping for the same. Was gunna make thaumaturge transpose (it used to say it swapped INT with STR) and I thought you could smack enemies with different weapons instead of using the normal magic attack by pressing “c” but … every idea was shot down. Build was Wiz > Pyro (enchant fire) > Linker (joint penalty) > Thumaturge (transpose) > Chronomancer (quicken) > alchemist (better weps)

Rogue, from the archer tree, uses a Crossbow and a Dagger for it’s set of weapons!

Yes it does have those two weapons but the only time you’d really use the dagger would be for backstab since you’d have little to no defense and block compared to swordsman and clerics.

Yeah, I was considering Rogue the most since it’s closer to the sort of dynamic I have in my head.

But if I want Backstab, I’d have to skip Falconer’s falcon and ability to have me shoot from above!

And we don’t know what it’s going to look like in the third tier yet so…

That’s why we need something like a Magic/Mystic Knight o

I think an offensive Cleric path would be good for you, something like this: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/skwdpxbz1m/

You would have close/mid range skills from Monk and Diev, and long range AoE from Monk and Krivis. (you could probably mess around with the classes a lot more to suit you). You also have a lot of heals and support from Cleric, Krivis, and Diev, plus self buffs from Monk.

Sounds a bit like the “jack of all trades” setup that you want, although because it’s Cleric there is quite a lot of support. My suggestion is mess around in the skill simulator to find out what combos you would like.

Problem with this is Monk is STR based. If you want to do decent melee damage, you’d stack for STR. If you want to do decent healing or Krivis damage, you’d stack for INT. You could always make the two even and not stack SPR or CON so… glass tank :sunglasses:

yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking about the build, you would have to stack STR and INT and just rely on Cleric buffs to not die. kind of awkward to build around but you have to compromise with this game’s class system.

maybe you could go Bokor and make zombies facetank for you, haha.

I think it’s pretty obvious at this point they do not really want a class good at both.

I think the best bet for people who want something like this might be Sadhu as cleric/krivis/priest skills are kinda melee based and the spirit can pretty much attack at any range.

I honestly like the sound of that challenge. I might experiment with it during the beta,.
