I don’t think that korean developers need suggestions about how to earn money with MMOs. They pretty much came up with the concept of monetary rape.

Hey Nexon, remember when I used to play Combat Arms and Elsword? Well, my butt does.

Nice satire. I hope they pay attention to this thread and the reactions of the people who thought you were serious, OP.

I’m going to say it here but screw gachapon. I play LinePlay and I never put a dollar of my real money into it because of how frustrating gachapon is for not getting the item I actually want. Plus I think some items should be droppable, it’s a good incentive to buy the ‘cooler’ items that are for sale in stores.

Don’t agree with using real money to expand guild slots, I believe this to be a mechanic of the game and shouldn’t be messed with. What if there were a WoE (from RO) type thing in the game? It would make it unfair to other poorer players.

Pay more for a hair style bundle? I’m up for that. Something like $5 for a package of 5 hair styles.

Paying for Emoticons also seems excessive. I think a lot of your suggestions are a bit too much. Just a few things like hair styles, colors, clothing outfits/colors, special hats, and other similar type stuff should be a possibly to pay real money for. Maybe also some resurrection coins, maybe a buff box? EXP boost for x amount of time, those types of things. Things you don’t necessarily need but make the game more enjoyable without making it feel unfair to other players.

Yes, let’s allow players to give exp boosters and buff boxes that are not unfair to other players.

Totally fair! Completely fair! No advantage whatsoever!

(Hehehhe… I’m going to buy all the boosters and buffs and get to super high level and laugh at all the PATHETIC FOOLS who don’t have money to make leveling easy! BOW TO YOUR QUEEN FOOLS!!!)

Yes… please do these things…

You 've a really wicked mind
if any of those actually get used ingame… i’m OUT.

Satan, is that you? :open_mouth:

These would be buffs that a player could get from being in a party so the only reason to buy these buff boxes would be because you want to play solo.

Honestly I don’t see a exp boost item to be a big deal as I’ve seen them in RO and they barely do much. I’m not suggesting an extreme boost in exp; just a tiny one, one that only feels worth doing when it gets really grindy. It only makes it so the player levels a millimeter faster than others.

The items I suggested wouldn’t be high level buffs or high level exp, just things that assist in leveling a tiny bit to make it a little more bearable. It’s not something a player desperately needs but it’s something nice to have. They would also be timed and/or canceled upon death to give some risk/reward action going on.

Honestly if being high/max level in this game is your main goal, I feel bad for you, I don’t believe that is what this game was first intended for. They made a high level cap but that isn’t the main goal. Sure you want to get to the next class and get cooler skills but if you just want to be ~OMG NUMBER ONEEEEE~ so everyone will give you butt pats, it just comes off as arrogant and egotistical.

I want to play this game to explore the lore/scenery, make some new friends, have fun with said friends while dicking around in the game while leveling along at the same time. shrug

You mention fair and suggest gachapon, haha. Gachapon are nowhere near fair.

I’d rather pay 15$ a month to play instead of Cash-Shops or P2W-elements.

These are the only things I disagree with. I would also add more character slots per server and maybe bigger inventories/banks (Said item could be sold by players IDK)

To be fair, p2p games nowadays also have cash shops (Mounts, pets, custom gear, boosting services, etc) so to believe that they wouldn’t have a cash shop if they were to charge you for a sub is just not going to happen. The idea is to have a store without p2w elements while at the same time having cool things for people to buy (This means the company makes more money and we get more content). The point should be that if you see something you really like you go and buy it all while not affecting other’s game (In other words not buying power).

H…how dare you!? M…my gachapon sugg…suggestion is… t…TOTALLY FAIR! If you weren’t a lazy, good for nothing NEET (Not Employed Educated or in Training) then maybe you could afford my TOTALLY FAIR gachapon idea! H…how dare you say that my suggestions are… u…unfair! They’re fair, I’m totally not trying to rob the poor saps who can’t control their gambling habits of their entire wallets. I’m not trying to propagate new addiction habits and taking complete and utter advantage of it. I swear I’m not trying to ruin the in-game market for my own gain. How dare you insinuate that I… the revelator… would ever suggest something that is unfair!?

I personally prefer how it was in RO pre-cash shop.

Make it so that even cosmetics or hairstyles are drops from mobs in the form of items themselves or crafting recipes. That way they actually mean something and we won’t have every damn person sporting wings, horns, bunny/cat ears from every body part and orifice. If you don’t like what you picked up then put it up for sale or give it to a guildie if it has stats/bonuses which might be beneficial to them. I understand why so many companies tend to go the way of microtransactions and cash shops even if it’s purely cosmetics but this game, to me at the very least, has a lot of potential. Keep it simple, keep it pure in that sense and people will love it and play it and keep wanting to play it while at work or taking a dump. Make people earn things so they know that when someone walks inside a room with purple bunny ears they know by heart that:

-He had to gather 100 (insert whatever drop name here) from bunnies in order to craft it
-He got it as a rare rare drop from the fabled purple and famously outspoken anti-gachapon purple bunny boss
-He had to kill 100 fools in the pvp arena

Whatever the case the people who know and understand its worth will probably send you whispers offering you 2 or 3 mil or however much they feel that it’s worth. As opposed to thinking “hmmm… 10 bucks huh…”. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Spend your hard earned money however way you want but I feel this game can be quite successful without having to indirectly rob your wallet just to look “special”. Going pvping decked out in $300 worth of cosmetics and dying in two hits is… well… silly and i think it just dumbs the game down in a sense that i can’t quite articulate at the moment.

tl;dr, I’m a bit of a purist and i like earning and working for things. (i live and breath dark souls) So i’m going to have to vote “Nay” in terms of this.

IMC developed both Granado Espada AND ToS.

So I guess there won’t be a huge difference in terms of business model.

Do expect for:

  1. Character EXP Boost Manual
  2. Job EXP Boost Manual
  3. Enhancement Booster to increase chance of successfulness
  4. Something that prevents item enhancement being dropped to zero in the event of failure.
  5. Costume for both weapons and armors
  6. Hairstyle
  7. Pose / emoticon
  8. Premium dungeon maybe <- This was popular in Granado Espada.
  9. Premium pets and also premium food for pet

I think these are the basic things at least.

@AkaiKiseki, EXP boosters are no way P2W, everyone can reach the same power in this case. Paying users only gets there faster which is totally ok for me =)

@Mephilin EXP Boosters are P2W. Using that same logic, if they were to sell say a legendary sword in the cash shop which you can also get as a drop in-game albeit at a very very low rate it wouldn’t be considered P2W because technically everyone can get that sword at some point? Only difference would be people can opt to buy it right at that moment thereby gaining an unfair advantage. Tell me it’s not P2W when you have an entire guild of no lifers who not only have time on their side but also cash shop augments and end up dominating everyone else in pvp/WoE because they have access to higher tier gear etc. Granted they’ll be ahead even without it but the gap would be more tolerable.

Anything else being sold that’s not purely cosmetic is P2W.

I will hold back my inner devil for a moment to say this.

I have no idea if people understand this yet or not, but leveling up and character building is basically the entire game. Why in the world would you want to make the game shorter?

And… Now I will not hold back my primal urges.

You know what would make a ton of money? Special edition costumes that you can nickel and dime for like 50 bucks each. Hehehehhe, ahahahahahahahaha

Ultra rare cat maid outfit, only limited to the first 100 people to buy it ;D

As for exp boosters, what if you’re a casual player (2 or so hours a day) and you got friends who can grind day in and day out? Maybe you want to boost yourself up so that you can play with them? ^^
